Title: Faith
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Jack, Faith.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 558: Faith at
tw100.
Spoilers: Fragments.
Summary: Jack doesn’t know exactly what the tarot girl is, but she isn’t human.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
She looks like a young girl, but she exudes an aura of… other. Jack doesn’t know exactly what she is, alien, fae, shape-shifter, a mutation of some kind, but whatever she is she’s a lot older than she looks. So is he when it comes to that, but at least he looks like the adult he is.
Her dress was contemporary when they first met, but it never changes and by the time the century is about to turn for the second time, her clothes are so outdated as to appear archaic. Nothing about Faith has changed since the first time he met her, except for her bodyguards. They’re different every time he has occasion to consult her. He sometimes wonders if she’s some kind of parasite, draining the life from those she employs in order to keep herself looking ever young. Maybe she’s a vampire. He’s never seen her in daylight.
Whatever she is, she can read the future in her tarot cards with uncanny accuracy, and that’s reason enough for him to avoid her except in times of direst need.
Of everything he’s seen, all the dangers he’s faced, she scares him the most. She knows too much.
The End
