A/N: This one’s a triple drabble.

Ryo blinked sleepily in the early morning sunlight, wondering what had woken him. Glancing towards his alarm clock, he saw there was still another half hour before he had to get up and he closed his eyes again, hoping to nap the time away, but a soft thud against the window drew his attention and he turned to look outside as it was repeated, again and again.

At first he couldn’t see the cause and he rubbed the sleep from his eyes before peering at the glass again, breaking into a smile as he spotted the culprit. On the other side of the window, no doubt drawn by the bright gold of the sunflowers blooming on his windowsill, a fat bumblebee rebounded from another failed attempt to reach the tempting display.

On a whim, Ryo slid the window up, the already warm summer air caressing his bare arms and chest, and he leant on the sill watching as the bee suddenly discovered access to the sunflowers was no longer blocked. It swooped onto the nearest bloom, probing for nectar and becoming dusted with pollen in the process, then buzzed happily from flower to flower, drinking its fill before at last zooming away.

Reluctantly Ryo lowered the window again; he couldn’t leave it open all day for the bee’s convenience, he had to go to work and an open window in the city, even on the third floor, was all the temptation an enterprising burglar would need. It wouldn’t look good if a police detective were to get cleaned out while at work.

Still, now the bee had found his sunflowers maybe it would return another day so he could let it in. With the bee’s help he might be able to grow his own sunflowers next spring from the seeds.
