Title: Like Sunlight
Fandom: BtVS
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Angel, Buffy.
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 9: Fragrant at sesquidrabbles.
Spoilers/Setting: Early Season Two.
Summary: Buffy is like a splash of sunlight in Angel’s dark existence.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Joss Whedon.
A/N: Drabble and a half, 150 words.

Angel loves Buffy’s hair; it’s golden like he imagines the sunlight on fields of ripe corn would be, or a beach on a summer’s day. Being a vampire he can’t tolerate sunlight, he’s a creature of the night, destined to skulk in the shadows, but every time he sees her, Buffy’s bright hair brings a splash of sunlight into his undead existence, and it fills him with a sense almost of euphoria.

Her hair smells as wonderful as it looks. When he holds her close he can’t help burying his nose in it, breathing in the fragrance of her shampoo; she smells of apples, and vanilla, and the subtle floral scent she favours. Being near her fills all his enhanced vampire senses, to the point where he feels he could happily drown in her forever.

Surely this must be what real love feels like; he can’t imagine existing without her.

I am NOT a Bangel fan. However, this definitely sums up quite nicely how I feel about my man, so I can relate and enjoy. :)

Ayk, I'm a firm believer in to each their own, but when I read something that's not one of my pairings and enjoy it anyway, I like to point that out. I always feel, when receiving or giving reviews, that it's especially meaningful when someone can enjoy something that they would usually not because of the pairing involved.

I've moved away from Giles/Buffy somewhere, but Spike/Buffy will always be my favorite BtVS pairing. But as you said and, again, in which I firmly believe: each to their own. :)

That sounds like something you read off the bottom of a movie poster.

That could be your side job or something.:)

Maybe you could look into that. Write monologues. You never know.:)

I suppose so. I doubt my voice would be good for train service announcements despite my enthusiasm.:)

I wish I had a newsreader voice. I'll make do with my own though.

I remember a telemarkerter asked for "mummy or daddy" while on the landline phone. It was only a couple of years ago. I was almost pushing 30 at that point.

Unless a company wants me to do voiceover's in a kid's voice.*shrugs*

I try but sometimes I wonder if they believe me.:)

Well, if the opportunity were to present itself I'd seriously consider it. Since I wouldn't have to worry about how I looked or with body language and all that.*self-conscious*

I've learnt some strategies to deal with making presentations to overcome nerves but yeah, not much fun.:(

You're lucky. I felt it was something I needed to do. My anxiety in the past was a burden for me. I have a better coping mechanism now.

In hindsight I wish I'd done things differently. Aint that something most of us can identify with or is it just me.*hopes not just me*

I guess it's just one of those life lessons. As long as I learn from the past, then it really wasn't a waste of time.

Watching motivational video's online really puts thing's in perspective.:)

Exactly. It keeps you humble. I see people who have no idea how lucky they are. Gratitude is something that everyone should practice. I know it's hard to do consistently though.

Yes, just take things as they come but don't settle for whatevers there. It's a balance.

This was very lovely. I felt that it really captured the sense of longing that Angel has for her.
