A/N: This one’s a triple drabble.

Sometimes life just wasn’t fair; Ryo had felt that way when his parents had been ripped from him without him having the chance to tell them how much he loved them, or even to say goodbye.

They’d been away for months, they were art dealers and spent a lot of time in Europe, but with Christmas approaching they’d been coming home for the holidays and he’d been so excited, only… They’d never made it back; their car was shot up on the way from the airport, so near and yet so far. What was fair about any of that?

He’d tried telling himself he was luckier than some; for eighteen years he’d had parents who loved him even if they couldn’t be with him all the time, but it had been no consolation. Their loss was like having a gigantic hole cut into his life, a hole that could never be filled. His aunt and uncle had tried their best, and he really appreciated everything they’d done for him, but it wasn’t the same.

Now here he was, facing another situation that wasn’t fair. This kid was so young, only ten, and he’d already lost his mother. Now his father was dead too, murdered, and unlike Ryo he had no other relatives to take him in. There was nobody to care for him and he was hurting so much. Ryo knew that pain, it was a familiar presence in his life; he understood the grief and loss the small boy felt, and it tore at his heart. Sooner or later, someone would come along from Child Services and Bikky would be sent to an orphanage, or put into foster care, unless…

He came to a decision. Bikky needed support, security, and a loving home; he’d simply foster the boy himself.
