Title: A Rare Luxury
Fandom: FAKE
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ryo, Bikky, Dee.
Rating: G
Setting: Early in the manga.
Summary: It’s hard to get enough sleep when you’re a working single dad.
Written Using: The tw100 prompt ‘Sleep’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: This one’s a double drabble.
To Ryo sleep is a precious commodity that’s all too often in short supply. Cops are supposed to have pretty regular working hours, even if their shifts change from week to week, but in reality they don’t always get to clock off at the official end of their working day. Unofficial overtime is a fact of life, finishing up things that can’t just be abandoned until the following day.
On top of that, Ryo hadn’t realised when he took Bikky in just how much time and effort went into raising a child. He doesn’t regret it, but it means he often has to get up early after working late to make sure his foster son has a good breakfast before getting him to school on time.
Sometimes, when his alarm clock drags him to wakefulness feeling as if he’s only just closed his eyes, he’d almost be willing to sell his soul for five more minutes of undisturbed rest.
He’s starting to envy Dee’s ability to nap anywhere
Unsurprisingly, mornings like this, when he actually gets to sleep in for a couple of hours, are the height of luxury, a rarity to be savoured; they don’t happen nearly often enough.
The End
