Knitting Pictures!
Feb. 21st, 2011 08:05 pmWell, it will be knitting pictures (I hope) if I can figure out how to insert images! Wish me luck!
Okay, some people have been showing interest in seeing some of the things I've knitted. I'm still clearing out my room to have the ceiling fixed, and today was Emptying The Wardrobe day, so I decided to photograph a few of the woolies I knitted. The photos aren't great, the light was bad as it's been pouring rain all day, and I put things on a flat box on the floor to photograph them as the bed's been dismantled and shifted to the box room, but I hope they're passable.
These four were all knitted from the same basic pattern, but I used different cable stitches for each one - I love cabling and thought they turned out quite well.
So hopefully, here they are! Hope you like!

Date: 2011-02-22 02:22 am (UTC)I love wearing pink (and red, and blue... not green though, I look dreadful in most greens!) I had a bunch of aran wool, not enough in any of the colours for a jumper, so I made these. I was really pleased with the way they turned out.
I swear, I dragged at least 40 hand knitted jumpers, tops, cardigans etc. out of my wardrobe, many of them I'd forgotten about! There are 4 cardigans that don't even have buttons yet because I haven't found any I like enough. I'll have to remedy that - one is of the softest salmon pink wool ever, it was lovely to knit but I haven't worn it yet because... no buttons!

Date: 2011-02-22 11:50 am (UTC)I photographed a few other, might put some of them up another time. I'll try to photograph a couple of my picture knits and email photos to you at some point. Clearing out my wardrobe, I found things I'd forgotten all about - I have four cardigans that still need buttons!
These four I was very pleased with. They're made of aran wool and should look great over a cream aran jumper, but I'd have to knit a new one as the old one's looking very shabby, and I don't have any cream aran wool. Still, they go well over blouses and plain jumpers and they're quite cosy!

Date: 2011-02-28 11:40 pm (UTC)Anyway, glad you like them - I had a lot of fun choosing different cables for each one, and I was pleased with how well they turned out. I really don't have a favourite - I picked up the yarn years ago, quite cheaply, but there wasn't enough of any of the colours for a long-sleeved sweater so I made these instead. They're generously sized, so I can wear them over a jumper in winter for an extra layer - could have used them during the really cold weather, but they were stuffed at the back of the wardrobe. When I put things back in my room, I'm going to reorganise where I store things so I can actually get at them!
I've taken photos of a few more, which might make it to my journal (and eventually Ravelry) when I can find the time!
Thanks for commenting =D
