A/N: This one’s a triple drabble.

Dee cursed. Snatching up his shoe he slapped it down hard, then looked at the sole, a disgusted expression on his face at the sight of the squashed cockroach remains stuck to it. Working undercover had its perks, most notably the extra pay, but the accommodations sucked. He hated bugs, not in the respect that he was afraid of them, just that they were vile creatures, and of all the kinds of bugs in the world, he thought cockroaches must surely be the worst. The thought of having to spend the next few weeks sharing this poky little furnished ‘apartment’ with an unknown number of the little menaces wasn’t at all appealing.

“You’d think they’d at least provide someplace that gets fumigated occasionally,” he muttered under his breath, before whacking another ‘roach to death. The NYPD was going to owe him a new pair of sneakers after this. Possibly more than one pair.

He’d just got in from his first shift at the club where he was tending bar, a job he’d quite enjoyed, and stepping through the door of his temporary home to find the floor and walls seething with the apartment’s other residents had been akin to having a bucket of cold water tipped over him. He could already tell this was going to be a long and unpleasant assignment.

Stalking through the two and a half rooms that made up his home for the next little while, Dee set about slaying as many of the ‘roaches as he could, smashing them flat. He might not be able to eradicate them, but at least he could try and keep their numbers down. Eventually he’d have to give up and try to get some sleep or he’d be useless tomorrow, but that could wait; right now, this was war!
