Summary: Dee has mastered the art of not listening when the chief is yelling at him.

The Chief was droning on about… something, probably chewing Dee out about some infraction of the rules or other. Dee just stood up straight, staring past the old badger’s left ear, and tuned him out.
“Are you even listening to me, Laytner?”
“Yes, Sir.”
“I don’t know why I bother. Everything I say goes in one ear and out the other. There’s nothing between your ears to stop it, is there?”
“No, Sir. Wait… what?”
“Hah! Just as I thought, you haven’t heard a word! One of these days, your habit of not listening’s gonna get you into serious trouble.”
