Summary: Buffy looks like any other girl, but she’s not.

A/N: 100 words first try!




Standing in her bedroom, Buffy stares at her reflection in the mirror. The girl staring back at her looks just like any other Californian teenager, a pretty enough face, blonde hair, decent figure, neither too thin nor too fat; fairly average if she’s brutally honest with herself. She’ll never be tall and willowy, that’s not in her genes; she’s destined always to be petite. Could be worse; at least she doesn’t have bad acne.


The mirror is a liar though, because she’s not like any other teen, or any other person. She’s the Slayer, the only one in the world.

There are positives and negatives, the downside being the short life expectancy. I felt b ad for Buffy, especially in the early series, because she so badly just wanted to be a normal girl and do normal things, but she had this huge responsibility to fight demons and vampires.

It was very easy to be sympathetic with her most of the time. The writers did a great job with that aspect. I can't tell you the number of times that I think back to the episode where she's struggling with Slayer duties and work duties and being "mom" to Dawn after Joyce's death, and then she misses the trash truck. :( Poor girl! But then who hasn't felt like that a time or two in their lives? So much crap hits, and you can only handle so much no matter how hard you fight!

She was too young to be swamped with so much responsibility, and she tried so hard!

I still consider Buffy one of the best-written series ever, especially for dialogue. My other two favourites for writing are Firefly and Babylon 5.
