Jack paused at the door to the lower levels. It was closed, which was unusual since most of the team, himself included, saw doors as unnecessary obstacles and left them open for their convenience unless there was a very good reason to shut them, but that wasn’t what had caught his attention. Stuck to the solid metal of the door with strips of masking tape was a large sheet of thick, white paper, on which was written in black marker pen,

‘ATTENTION! VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE – READ AND OBEY.’

The rest of the sheet was blank.

Jack was still staring at it with a confused look on his face when Ianto appeared.

“Jack? What are you doing?”

Jack pointed helplessly at the paper. “I don’t understand! What am I supposed to read and obey?”

Ianto laughed. “It’s not finished yet; the marker pen ran out of ink so I had to go and fetch a new one.”

“Thank goodness for that. I was almost afraid to move in case I did the wrong thing.”

Uncapping his pen, Ianto finished the notice with: ‘FOR FLUFF SAFETY, PLEASE CLOSE THIS DOOR BEHIND YOU.’

“I don’t want Nosy getting lost down there,” he explained.

The End

Great, can;t have Nosy getting lost. Ianto is so thoughtful. I think the team will obey, as they love it too.

*sighs* was hoping it was the beginning of some kinky DS game they could play after hours! All you need to do is obey, Jack. Just that. Nothing else. Ianto will handle the rest.

Some people would be scared by that proposition! I just need to keep more up to date. I was shocked to find I was three months behind in reading these! May through July have just been hellish for writing!

I feel honored, lol! Today was the first day I felt semi caught up with all my challenges. Being sick hasn't helped so I was trying to rest and read at the same time. Most of my reading time has been taken up by a book club I started at work. I have to stay one book ahead of everyone else so there's a new one ready to go (because I don't want to suggest a book that's rubbish). I want to get my beads box back out as well and maybe skip the odd challenge here and there to free up some time. No more major projects in line for August now that wintercompanion is done and contest week out of the way. Fingers crossed!

Thanks. I used to make all kinds of beaded jewelry - earrings, bracelets, necklaces, fancy bookmarks. I'd buy supplies at trade fairs and wholesalers (you know, in the good old days when I used to leave the house and have a life). I have two huge crates of stuff, and a ton of things I'd made with the intention of selling but never did. I just give them away as gifts now to people who appreciate the work that goes into them (thus why I have a collection that grows rather than shrinks!)
Everyone is reading The Stolen Bicycle by Wu Ming Yi at the moment. It was very different in style to most books because it's a translation of a Taiwanese author, but wonderfully evocative in it's description. I've yet to start the next book, but I borrowed Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan.
It's only a small group of us, mainly the people at work I'm close to. I didn't advertise to all and sundry in case it turned out rubbish.
This is only the second book we've read, but the first catch-up was nice. I allowed eight weeks to finish the book because everyone is always so busy. There's stacks of cafes and fast food around, but they're mostly too noisy and busy with all the people and the coffee machines. I found a quiet little Cafe inside the town hall which is only half a block from work so we had lunch there (I had Devonshire tea and the scone was enormous) but it was lovely and did lots of GF food which was good because two of the girls are coeliac. I think I'll make it our permanent place. The next catch-up is Thursday week.
I'm slowly on the mend. Got a dental appointment tomorrow morning because he fixed a cracked root canal two weeks ago, but I'm still getting aching sporadically, and had 24 hours solid of pain on Thursday. It's settled down again now, but in theory there shouldn't be any pain so it's off again to get it checked out. *headdesk*

I know what you mean. I have stacks and stacks of earrings which is ironic since I've never had pierced ears, but they're easy to make and look pretty.
I'm trying to stick to general fiction for book club which means trawling bookclub websites for reccs and I'm also signed up to an online book store that send weekly newsletters. When I see something of interest I take a photo of that cover and the synopsis on my phone and check them out later. For my own interests I still lean towards crime/fantasy/thriller genres and am rekindling my love of a good supernatural thriller and snaffling up second hand copies of James Herbert books. I always laugh at the reference to The Fog in Torchwood. It's so dated it's more amusing than a good read these days. :)
