Summary: Owen is concerned about one of his charges.

A/N: Episode title = drabble title. It’s just easier that way.

Wandering into the hothouse, Ianto found Owen standing near one of his plants, looking troubled.

“Problems?” he asked casually.

“I think something’s wrong with Gordon.”

Ianto didn’t bat an eyelash, having long since become used to Owen naming his alien plants. He moved to stand beside his colleague.

“How so?”

“Not sure. He just seems down.”

Truthfully, Gordon did look rather droopy.

“Maybe he just needs cheering up.”

“How do you cheer up a plant?”

Ianto shrugged. “Not my area of expertise. You’ll think of something.”

Owen thought then moved Gordon to the window overlooking the Hub.

Surprisingly, it worked!

Torchwood are very caring about their alien inmates - even the plants. Gordon is now a much happier plant, no more droopy leaves.

Not much sunshine in the Hub though! I reckon they all have lamps in the hothouse to provide for their different light requirements, but some are a bit more sentient than others and just need a change of scene occasionally to keep them happy.

I'm in a drabble frenzy - I have three more complete. One is a pit of gloom I'm not very happy with, it's not really what I wanted and I'm not sure if it works. I'm happier with the other two.

Sadly I failed miserably at Flower Power Cut. I really wanted to do that but all I've got is an incoherent jumble I can't turn into a drabble. Might have another go at it some other time when I've got more time to think about it.

Another denizen of the Hub makes its drabble debut! Love it. :) Maybe they should bring Gordon a TV to watch for when no one is around. Clearly "he" needs a lot of visual stimulation.

Not entirely sure what Gordon uses to 'see' with - it could be some kind of sonar or something, but he does like being in a position to 'see' something other than the very uninteresting plant he was sitting beside.

(I think Gordon should probably have some kind of eyes so he can watch TV and get addicted to gameshows or something, lol!)

Maybe he has some sort of alien sensor we don't have and picks up things on a wavelength other than what's visible or audible to humans.

Whatever it is, it's obviously picking up more in Gordon's new location! :)

Yes, it's dull when you're stuck in one place with nothing to look at except the plant sitting next to you (which Gordon didn't get along with anyway).

Gordon's definitely a people-watcher - anything for a laugh! It's also very educational for a young plant, a good way to learn all about earthlings!

I think Owen sometimes prefers his plants to people because they don't talk, but then they can't tell him what's wrong when they're not their usual selves either, which is less helpful.
