Title: Never Happier

Fandom: Star Trek Original Series

Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted

Characters: Spock, Leila, Captain Kirk.

Rating: G

Challenge: #2: Under The Influence at [livejournal.com profile] drabble_weekly.

Spoilers/Setting: This Side Of Paradise

Summary: Spock experiences happiness under the influence of alien spores.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Star Trek, or the characters. They belong to the late great Gene Roddenberry.

Spock has never been happier. That simple fact should be alarming, yet it causes him no disquiet. He is happy, here in this paradise, with Leila, the woman he loves, by his side. There’s no cause for concern, nothing he needs to do except live in the moment, enjoying everything in ways he’s never been able to before.

This is right, even perfect.

The Captain’s voice coming through his communicator is an unwelcome interruption, and their conversation soon becomes tedious. The small device falls from his hand as he kisses Leila. Spock has better things to do with his time.

The End

I feel a need to even the balance, since you got trolled. (That burns me up. How dare somebody troll you?!)

I gotta say, though I've never cared for Star Trek (especially not the original series), I really enjoyed this. And I can totally hear Nimoy's voice in this, as though he's narrating it. Great job! :D

You can consider that practice for if a better-equipped one ever shows up--which, hopefully, won't ever happen.

And I'm sad to say my glee-buzz has just died. I can't find my phone, and I'm kinda freaking out. Mom's off somewhere with her brother today, and I went to get my cell just in case she needs to contact me. And I can't find it anywhere. I'm prepared to swear up, down, and sideways that I put it on the table when we came home from groceries a few days ago, and I always keep it near there, anyway, since that's where my charger's plugged in. Not there; I checked the shopping bags we used--still not there. I even, heart in my throat, checked the pockets of the jeans I wore that day, hoping that I hadn't accidentally put it through the laundry. The fact that I didn't find it there is the only good part of this...which still isn't so great, as now I'm wondering if I have to check the washing machine or the dryer. O.o

Whew; not in either machine. Where the hell...?!

The moment Mom got home, I asked her (rather desperately) if she'd seen it. It was in her purse. I'd put it there when we came home, just so I wouldn't drop it while getting grocery bags. Whew! God, the relief!
