Title: Soggy Situation

Summary: Ianto is less than happy with Owen.

Ianto plucked duckweed from his hair, dropping it back into the village pond; not that it made much difference to his appearance. He was soaked from head to foot and suspected there might be tadpoles wriggling around inside his shirt. He glared at Owen, who was standing nearby, gloomily watching the SUV being pulled from the water.

“When I tell you to stop, I don’t mean slam your foot on the accelerator and try to drown us!” he snapped. “Next time, I’m driving. What the hell were you thinking?”

“There was a wasp in the car! I bloody hate wasps!”

Poor Donna already encountered a giant spider in "The Runaway Bride".

Wasp generally have a short life span. But there is always a wasp nest near my house!

Maybe they breed alot?

Wasps are like bees with a queen and lots of workers I think. I always have wasps coming into my bedroom in spring looking for a good nest site. I have to send them out again.

Donna did get an unfair share of the giant creepy crawlies, poor girl!

Unfortunately violence is the only way to get rid of them. I feel sorry for pest control.

That's okay. I've got a headache because I have to do my business assessments.:(

Ugh, headaches are horrible, hope yours goes soon.

Pest controllers get paid well though.

I hate killing things, but there are some I'll make an exception for - Ants, vine weevils, greenfly and woolly aphids, mosquitos, flies, and the occasional wasp. I'd hire someone to deal with rats if they were an issue, or a wasp nest, but I think that's about it.

Still sounds like an unpleasant job to me. You couldn't pay me to get rid of a wasp nest. I'll be too busy running the other direction.:D

I heard a story about a person who left a note for the Postman to get rid of a spider in their letterbox. That should cost extra?

I'm with Owen on this. Was once in a car with a wasp. Driver pulled over and came to open door. Slowly and gently I held my arm out so it could fly away. Wretched thing stung me. For its pains it got swatted by driver. Wasps are nasty and aggresive. Poor Ianto hates being messy. Knowing him he'll make sure tadpoles are safe

Yes, wasps are aggressive and often sting without provocation, but I don't think riving into the pond helped, lol!

Thank you! At one time I thought I could never write a drabble, but I've done over 1000 for Torchwood now, and more for other fandoms. Just goes to show what you can do if you try!

Yeah, we had a lovely postman at one time, Ed, and he gave me a hand more than once, shifting heavy things! Not his job, but he was just a really nice guy. Sometimes I wonder where he is now.

Oh, I wish! He was younger, tall, dark and handsome! We were friends, but that was all. Both SF addicts, we got talking when he was delivering my science fiction magazines =)

I've always been a daydreamer, my school teachers even commented about it. I do it all the time, making up stories in my head and writing out the ones that work =)

That is where I get my ideas for fanfic or just to gather my thoughts when something stressful is going on in my life.

I day dream on public transport or when I'm doing domestic duties at home.:)

I think the only time I DON'T daydream is when I'm driving, lol! Too unsafe.

I got that too, I was really shy until after I left school.I think the teachers commenting on my daydreaming was mostly exasperation because I was always miles away!

There is going to be a time where cars are going to drive by computer because car accidents are mainly caused by human error. What about computer error?

I love Daydream Believer, it was sort of my sing when I was little, because of being a daydreamer and because it has my name in it ;)

The way computers break down so often, I'd be terrified to be in a car controlled by them. And what about hackers taking control of random cars? They really haven't thought this through. Human drivers are way safer than computers! We need to stop putting so much reliance on machines because we'll forget how to do things for ourselves. Besides, don't people watch SF movies? We can't let the machines take over!

I saw Davy Jones from the Monkees sing it on the show "Sabrina" years ago.

My "new" laptop broke down two years after I purchase it. I think it was the programing though. I'm no expert on tech stuff.

Instead of more computers, how about training people to be more competent?

I think only the ones who watch SF programs will agree on your point. Others just don't want to deal with the responsibility that comes with doing something yourself.

Shouldn't self-service mean you pay less because the company doesn't have to hire someone to do it?. Or is it justified that the cost goes to maintaining the machine you have to use instead?

It probably costs more to maintain the machines and power them than it would to pay people to do the jobs the machines are taking over. *Starts singing Man Against Machine*

I'm far from being a tech expert either. Computers don't last long because new programming is always being brought out. I have automatic upgrades turned off on this one because windows kept upgrading my browser every time I turned the computer on and the new version crashed my computer every single time because it wasn't compatible with a lot of computers.

I used to love the Monkees. Davy Jones was my sister's favourite, but I liked Mickey Dolenz best. A friend of mine met Davy Jones once and said he was really rude and unpleasant. The rest of the group are lovely though.

A staff member is still needed when the system runs out of paper for a receipt etc.

Like self service, computer also do more than you want them too which is just as annoying as when they don't work at all.

Thats ashame about Davy Jones. The same thing happened to David Tennant when someone introduced him to George Lucas.

Our heroes aren't always very heroic, though I've met some lovely people, and though I've never met them, I know both John Barrowman and Gareth David Lloyd are lovely because I know many people who HAVE met them.

Yes, machines do not yet exist to refill other machines with paper, ink, or whatever else they're likely to run out of. People will never be obsolete.

I haven't seen Gareth doing interviews. Maybe I should look it up some time.

Try telling a self service machine to not give foreign coins! Where can I use that locally?. Should I go to foreign exchange?

Even with human cashiers I get foreign coins occasionally. I have a small collection now. You can always give them to charity, I'm sure most charities can deal with them. i know our Oxfam shop accepts them.

Gareth is just so sweet, and I think still a bit shy, but just so nice =)

In Australia, they are planning to phase out five cent coins so I'm try to get rid of them when I buy something.

Always sensible, get rid of as many as you can, it'll save fiddling later. We had the same problem when the humble half pence coin was phased out. I did keep a couple though.
