Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters. They belong to the BBC.

Donna Noble, force of nature; she’s unstoppable when she’s like this, a bright flame of righteous fury, as fiery as her red hair and with a temper to match, He can’t help loving her, but just as friends, not in any romantic way. She’d bite his head off if the thought ever so much as crossed his mind.

What an incredible woman she is though, so completely human, full of compassion and spirit; she gives him hope for humanity, that those primitive apes have the potential to grow into something worth saving. Some day they’ll take their rightful place in the universe; the Doctor knows this because they already have, and people like Donna are the reason and the impetus that made, or will make, it happen.

As she turns the full force of her indignation on those who foolishly tried to cross her, the Doctor prudently steps back; he doesn’t want to get in the firing line. She’s really scary when she gets like this and not for the first time, he thanks all the fates that she’s on his side. He wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of her; she’d be a formidable enemy.

He’d much rather have her as a friend.

The End

Better to have Donna on one's side than against one. The Doctor is definitely right about that, and he does love her for it, for supporting him when he's right and for challenging him when he's not; all for his sake or for others, she's never thinking of her own benefit.

"Never mind us." That's Donna's mantra.

And she's not in total awe of the Doctor! So very refreshing....

Ten referring to Donna: If you don't do what she says then you're really in trouble. Not from me, from her.

Has the Doctor referred to another champion in this matter?

I don't think so.

Their dynamic was almost like the way it was in the old series as far as I can tell.

DT said they were equals compared to the student/teacher partnership the Doctor had previously with Rose and Martha.

Which from a romantic point of view sounds odd?

My brother had a girlfriend who thought my maths teacher was cute. That was when she was also a student in my high school.

I saw girls in my class like certain male teachers. I never thought of them that way.

DT said later on that the Metacrisis Doctor and Rose are making "babies" later on so...

When Donna was gonna be a one off character in The Runaway Bride, he said that Donna and the Doctor had "fallen" for each other by the end of the episode.

But that was before RTD rewrote the script so that Ten and Donna would become just mates.

I loved the 10th Doctor/Donna dynamic. She was exactly what the Doctor needed.

Then Moffat introduced River Song at the time where Ten was still thinking of Rose.

I thought all the random "kissing" was overdone. DT joked that it was done just for the trailer.

I do prefer River over Rose. What was problematic was when she was introduced.

The Doctor "falling" for Rose, made him look like a "pedophile" as some peoole have put it.

Whereas others prefer to down play the massive age gap by saying he couldn't help it. That it was all "innocent".

Sarah Jane: Some things are worth getting your heart broken.

Rose couldn't accept that. She never moved on.

Nine/Rose was way better. Rose imprinted on Ten and the dynamic became too imbalanced.

Donna was more compatible with Ten if you look at it from a platonic perspective.

Could you imagine if Rose had known about River?

Yes. A married couple on the TARDIS was nice to have on a family show. Too bad they couldn't have raised their daughter.

Theres always a consequence with travelling with the Doctor.

Now with the Twelveth Doctor, we can finally be rid of "romance".

Platonic relationships are more fun to watch because its not just based on angst.
