Title: Rubbish!

Summary: Sometimes the Rift brings Torchwood wonderful things, and sometimes… it doesn’t.

A/N: Wow! Another one to come out at 100 words first try! That’s three in just over a week!

Jack and Ianto trailed back into the Hub looking grubby and dishevelled after going out to investigate a Rift alert. Tosh, always eager to investigate the gifts the Rift bestowed on them, smiled in anticipation.

“What did we get this time?”

“A load of rubbish,” Jack grumbled, heading up to his office.

“I know a lot of what comes through is broken or damaged, but that doesn’t mean it’s not interesting,” Tosh objected.

“It was a literal load of rubbish, Tosh,” Ianto explained. “Complete with rubbish bin. Jack’s just a bit cranky because it dropped on his head.”

Tosh giggled.

Poor Jack, only his pride is damaged.
Tosh will be able to fix almost everything that comes in.

I hope Coat is alright.
Nothing the dry cleaners won't solve.

Coat will be fine after cleaning. Jack's finding out how Ianto feels when dignity and pride get bruised. Ianto laughed, because Jack is usually the first to laugh when it's Ianto's dignity!

Ianto has a dry-cleaner that he trusts Coat with.
Jack has been around long enough to have both dented.

Jack stopped laughing the first time he got served decaf on the sofa. Served with a pillow and blanket.

I think you're probably right. Faced with that possibility, Ianto losing his dignity wouldn't seem nearly as funny the next time.

Ianto probably has two or three trusted dry cleaners so he doesn't take the coat to the same one every week.

Poor Ianto. He's really copped it in the last two weeks from me as well.

Let's see, he's been accosted by a snooty French waiter, had to tramp through freezing cold snow, had the secret of Flat Holm Island revealed, been impregnated by alien tech, had his appendix removed, been interrogated by Jack post cyberwoman, plagued by insomnia, been lumped with a mooing Jack, had to rescue him (twice), trawled through a dumpster, been strangled by furniture, and trapped in another dimension.

And all he's gotten as thanks was a lousy hand job in the SUV!

Maybe my new years resolution should be to be kinder to him. It's just a shame he makes such a great protagonist.

Jack will offer hugs and sympathy in future, unless Ianto is laughing.

He's smart, he makes sure not to arouse too many suspicions.

And that is why Ianto is the one that runs Torchwood.

Ianto is that, Jack loves him for that. Among other things.

Ianto lets Jack think that he is in charge.
Tosh knows the truth, maybe Owen.

Jack will do anything to make sure Ianto is happy.

I'm not so sure, sometimes I think Jack knows exactly who's boss, lol! He doesn't mind though. He takes charge in the field, but at the Hub, what Ianto says goes.

Ianto makes Jack's life easier and better.
Jack is better at field work, while Ianto is better suited with running the hub.

Jack loves it when Ianto is the boss.
jack will give Ianto the credit he needs.

I think it works better for both of them that way. Every office needs an administrator, and Ianto is far better at that kind of thing than Jack is. But Jack has all the field experience, that takes time to learn, plus he's seen more aliens that the others and often knows what they're dealing with.

wrong time for Jack. it happens.
but they are only trash: no injury or death, and above all: Ianto is safe !!!

Torchwood knowing, he will be glad once he showered and Ianto will have a hug !!
