It's absolutely stupid and unacceptable that they leave you to deal alone with all that crap. In France, the law requires that not only the sellers disconnect the machines (installation is usually for free and included in the service), but also that they take the old machines and take care of the recycling). There is a modest additional charge "eco-taxe" included in the price to cover it.
