Summary: Jack explains what caused the skeleton to go on the rampage.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

The dinosaur nets worked beautifully, capturing the rogue skeleton quite handily. Once it was safely restrained, Ianto turned to Jack.

“Okay, you said you’d explain once we caught it, so spill!”

Grinning, Jack approached their captive, plucking a small, previously unnoticed object from one of its legs.

“What’s that? Tosh asked.

“They’re used for moving heavy objects easily; basically, they make the object move itself. But they’re not designed for use on previously living things because they make them think they’re alive again.”

“Nifty,” Ianto said, then sighed. “Shame we can’t use it to return the dinosaur to the museum.”

That might come in handy moving some of the heavier Rift debris - as long as it had never been living, of course...

Totally accidental side-effect, an it's only the illusion of reanimation, not that it makes much difference if you attach it to, say, a stuffed tiger.

Well, except when the need it to move a crashed spaceship or something.... Hell of a lot easier to get it into the truck!

I think it would be useful, and by 'living' Jack means the animal or person end of the spectrum. Something made of wood or wool wouldn't act alive. So as long as it's not attached to a former creature of some kind they'll be okay. Makes me want them to stick it on a giant teddy bear and say "Follow me" ;)
