Fic Of The Week - Week Thirty Four
Aug. 20th, 2012 02:01 pmMonday again already! The weekend went by in a scrabble to finish birthday cards for my aunt and uncle, and to make a card and wrap presents for one of my oldest friends, whose birthday is tomorrow. I can't keep up! I had such plans for the weekend, since I'd managed to get ahead on reading, then life got in the way.... I will get back to writing Nosy-Verse eventually - I think o_O
Ah well, here's this week's fics!
First one is Archer Road Bridge, 5 quite long chapters by
lawsontl . I've been itching to read this since it was posted in April 2009, but because of the longish chapters I kept putting it off. This week I'm reading it! It's rated Mature for sex and violence.
Summary: What happened under Archer Road Bridge? Jack's surprised that's what Ianto is asking, and Ianto is surprised by what he saw on the CCTV.
First part is here:
http://lawsontl.livejournal.com/2666.html and chapters are linked.
Second fic this week is a short one, The Keeper Of Memories by
lookninjas , from way back in August 2007. 5 chapters again, but only short ones. The Tenth Doctor guest stars in this one.
Summary: In which Ianto Jones meets a man, and sees something he should never have seen.
Spoilers for: "Cyberwoman" and Doctor Who's "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday"
Chapters aren't linked on this one (well, they are if you go to part 5 first), so...
Part 1 :

Part 2 :

Part 3 :

Part 4 :
http://torchwoodcoffee.livejournal.com/408640.html
Part 5 :

So there you are, two fics to entertain those of you who haven't read them yet! Hope you enjoy and as always, happy reading!

Date: 2012-08-23 10:14 am (UTC)Archer Road Bridge is great though, I have one chapter left to read, should have read it yesterday but ended up not having time - I had parcels to post at the post office, then took my mum for her annual doctors check-up, then took her shopping... Her appointment was for 11.30, we got home around 3pm, then all the shopping had to be put away and the car put back in the garage, and the bikes and mum's mobility scooter had to go back in the garage. I finally got lunch at 4pm and then had all the new one-shots and updated WiPs to read, and by the time I'd finished all that, plus dinner and caring for the pets and bidding for some crafting stuff on ebay, it was nearly midnight. A very long day, especially since I seldom go out because of my own health problems and agoraphobia. I'm still exhausted this morning. Probably it will take me several days to recover from all the aching joints and muscles, so I'll get properly caught up on my reading.

Date: 2012-08-23 02:16 pm (UTC)Must admit I did enjoy the shopping, buying lots of yummy goodies - now if I just felt well enough to eat them... *sigh* Also, charity shops are my friends - picked up a brilliant craft storage caddy cheap AND it still has some craft bits in it that I can use (you can never have too many wobbly eyes, they're just so useful!) Itching to start making my Christmas cards now, but I'm still waiting on a few bits.
I think I wrote a fic in present tense once - I started it and it just wouldn't be written any other way. Tenses are weird - what annoys me is people switching tenses right through a story, sometimes mid-sentence! Oh, and people who can't use apostrophes! Every time I read flower's or weevil's or anything like that I just want to scream! I'm a stickler for correct punctuation, spelling and grammar!
