Rabbit Update

I just phoned the vet to find out about Misty. He's still refusing to eat or drink, so George is going to try to force feed him in a bit. He needs to be eating and everything before they'll do the surgery, not sure why, but I guess rabbits are not like people when it comes to their inner workings. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that he will be okay and that they will be able to do the surgery soon. I just wish I'd booked him in for a day or two sooner, then he would already have been done. It's just that we all wanted to give him a few days to get over the side effects that sometimes come with the booster injection he had so we settled on Wednesday, 6 days after his booster. Hindsight isn't helpful at all - if I'd known then what I know now... All this is going to eat into my savings. I think I'll take my cheque book!

Thank you! I am feeling rather stressed at the moment, I don't suppose Misty is feeling any happier than I am either. I miss him, but right now he needs to be where he is while they get him sorted out. It should have been so straightforward, but trust him to make things more complicated. He's a very contrary rabbit!

Misty may be missing your care, can't you ask the vet to visit him? it perhaps cheers him up and helps with his feeding!

Yes, PLEASE! I can't concentrate on anything, the waiting is killing me. The vet will phone sometime this afternoon.... Please let it be soon. Pets can be soothing, but they can also be stressful at times, and I can do without that!

If I don't hear anything by 4pm I might be tempted to invade the vet's office! I just really want to hear some good news.

I was looking for grey hairs yesterday, but amazingly at 50 I can't find any! That could well change in the next 24 hours. I can't concentrate or relax and now there's a thunderstorm and torrential downpour. It'll be a nightmare if I have to go out in this - I have to get two bikes and mum's mobility scooter out of the garage before I can get the car out. I hope the rain stops soon and the vet calls. The waiting is the hardest part, I really think I might go grey overnight after this!

I hope you're right! I just hate all the waiting and not being able to do anything. I can't concentrate, I can't watch TV or listen to music in case I don't hear the phone, I just feel lost. Everything is ready here for Misty to come home, I'm just waiting for the vet to phone. I think I'll have to phone them again if I don't hear something soon.

You made the best decision you could based on past experience and the vet's advice so stop beating yourself up! You don't deserve that--you're doing everything humanly possible and he's in the best place he can be right now. It sounds like you've got a great vet and I bet they'll have him fixed up in no time.

It just won't seem like no time. :(

I'm sorry you are so many problems with Misty. Poor guy! :(
I hope he eats soon and the the surgery goes well when they can finally do it. Yes, that is strange about the surgery, people are always told not to eat before surgery so we don't throw-up I guess from the anesthesia.
