Hm, I see. Here in Germany a traditional dish for Christmas Eve is either potato salad with wiener sausage or noodle salad. The goose or poached carp is served the next day.

As for sweet stuff we mostly eat bought sweets, mostly chocolate, or you bake cookies. We use for our cookie a recipe based on short pastry.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up! I really thought meat was involved in mince pies XD So they are filled with orangeade and candied lemon peel and stuff? If so, then I fear I wouldn't like it. I was scandalized recently to find that stuff in Heidesand (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidesand#mediaviewer/File:Heidesand.jpg) of all things *urgh*
