Summary: The first time Berkeley Rose sees Ryo.

A/N: Written for hisoka44 who wanted to know what Rose’s first impressions of Ryo and Dee might be.

Berkeley Rose doesn’t know what makes him look up at the balcony as he passes the lakeside hotel; maybe it’s some kind of instinct, an awareness of being watched. Whatever it is, he’s glad he looked.

The man watching him is attractive, young and long-legged, dressed casually in jeans and open-necked shirt. He’s unsmiling, but seems curious; Rose is curious too. Maybe when this investigation is over he’ll pay the mystery man a visit. It would be a shame to pass up an opportunity for some pleasure amidst all the business. After all, he is supposed to be on vacation.

And it never occurs to him the Ryo might not be interested. Rose is so sure of himself. I don't think he's used to being told 'no'.

Have you read the manga too? The anime was a rather extended version of Vol. 2, Act 5, with extra characters and scenes. I'm working from the manga version, so it might not match up with the anime. Both versions have their pluses and minuses.

I had a couple of drabbles written for this storyline, so I've kind of pulled then in and ended up with a couple of short drabble sequences that I couldn't quite manage to get to work as a single sequence. So there's this one that's mainly Rose's POV, and another that's mostly Ryo and Dee's POVs. There will possibly be more parts added later when I get time to write them, but at the moment I'm trying to write a Halloween fic for my main fandom, Torchwood, which is for a challenge so I have a deadline. It means other writing is on hold until I get it finished. I'll try to post 'First Meeting' on Sunday, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Glad you liked this one! I'm also happy to get requests and prompts, because there are almost none around for FAKE. I belong to several prompt communities, but I'm the only FAKE writer on any of them, as far as I can tell.
