Summary: Tosh and Jack are stuck in 1941

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: For the prompt ‘The Time Travellers’, one of the prompts I didn’t get around to using for tw100’s challenge 316 earlier this year. I’ve dug them out again to supplement the prompts I got from my f-list, just because there are still loads I wanted to use.

All they’d done was visit the Ritz Dancehall to check out reports of music, and now they were stuck in 1941! She should be in London, celebrating her grandfather’s 88^th birthday, not stranded among American servicemen living like there was no tomorrow. For some of them there might not be; that was life in wartime.

Jack fitted right in, dressed in his usual WWII era clothing, but Tosh had never felt so out of place or so vulnerable.

All she could do was hope and pray their colleagues could find a way to get them back to their own time.

I always felt so bad for Tosh because this had to have been so beyond anything that had happened to her before, and Jack was off fitting in and lusting after the man he stole his name from.

(Okay, I don't much like this episode, but I like this bit of introspection from Tosh.)

I liked some aspects of the episode, but there were a lot of things that troubled me too. I prefer the parts back at the Hub, the team trying to figure things out, but at the same time, Tosh is so completely out of her depth, yet still looks for ways to get the necessary information back (or rather, forward) to the team. It showed how resourceful she can be, considering Jack was too busy having a good time. Bad Jack!

*Rusty Rant ahead, so be warned read no further if a Rusty fan.

What is Tosh's true backstory. In this episode Tosh is allowed contact with her family but in the second season she is not allowed contact. Which is it Rusty? Reminds me of Ianto, the first 2 seasons there is no hint of an abusive childhood(ootr Ianto speaks fondly of going to the movies with his father) yet in Rusty's bad fic we have Ianto with an sad childhood tale.

I know! It's insane! Then he changed Owen and Tosh's birth dates, making it impossible for Owen to be a qualified Doctor unless he started REALLY young. RTD is just a bad writer. There was no 'bible' for the show, which is sheer stupidity considering the number of different writers. Seems he doesn't care about consistency, character development, continuity between episodes or... well, anything a good show-runner should care about. All he wanted to do was turn Torchwood into the show he originally wanted to make, which was turned down. So he killed off most of the characters. You may have noticed I'm not exactly RTD's number one fan, lol!
