Summary: The Doctor can’t do anything to help earth right now, but there’s one person who can.

The fate of the earth and all of humanity was in the balance, and under normal circumstances the Doctor would have been there to fix whatever was wrong, ensure the future would happen exactly as it was meant to. It was a task he’d set himself long ago, when his fascination with the planet and its people had first begun.


But this time he was trapped, a wizened creature locked in a cage, every year of his centuries-long existence visited upon a body that should still be young. The Master’s doing.


All his hopes now rested on Martha Jones’ shoulders.

I wish Martha had, had a better call back during the Moffat era.

And there's this thing called contracts. Not to mention filming scenes out of sequence.

Yes, true. Filming out of sequence is necessary. It would take forever otherwise!

Yeah. It's all about having access to certain locations. I heard this can effect how an actor will play their character if they know something about the storyline in advance.

On Broadchurch, Olivia Coleman was the only one who knew who the killer was in series one before it was revealed in the script. Which was the reversal of what actually happened in the storyline, for her character.

Some locations are only available for a limited period of time, and some guest actors are, so their scenes need filming while they're there. There are a lot of reasons.
