Doctor Who Drabble: Weighed Down
Title: Weighed Down
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Clara Oswald, Twelfth Doctor.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 573: Survive at
dw100.
Spoilers: Flatline.
Summary: Clara is the Doctor’s only hope.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.
For the first time since she’d started travelling with the Doctor, Clara genuinely wasn’t sure she was going to survive the experience.
She trusted him, knew he could handle just about anything that was thrown at him, but this was different; even though they were still in contact she was on her own, the Doctor trapped inside a steadily shrinking TARDIS, already so small she could carry it with her.
Whatever was happening, she would have to fix it herself because all the Doctor could do was offer her advice.
The weight of so much responsibility was slowly crushing her.

CLARA: Just say it. Why can't you just say it? Why can't you just say I did good?
Standing in for the Doctor is never easy.

Clara: Thank you.
Twelfth Doctor: Goodness had nothing to do with it.
Yes. But by this point he was more constructive with his feedback. And Clara was more committed to the lifestyle in the TARDIS.

Yes.
Clara: I'm his carer.*series 8
Twelfth Doctor: I had a duty of care.*series 9*

The companion is usually the Doctor's emotional compass.

ROSE: I'm not his assistant.
Rose says that like its a bad thing.
She had potential in the beginning. But stop questioning the Doctor shortly after he regenerated. You know the rest.

Martha: I'll do what I like!
Donna: You Dumbo.
Yes. She was only working with Torchwood in Parallel Universe to get back to the Doctor. Never mind the consequences.

Kind of a waste really. I just can't relate to that characterisation.*sighs*

Billie Piper didn't like the "happy ending" for Rose with the Metacrisis Doctor. So...*shrugs*

The metacrisis Doctor: That's disgusting!
Which is something RTD disregards. It was insinuated that the metacrisis Doctor whispered into Roses ear that "he loved her". But let us remember, that the Doctor also lies!*slightly dramatic*
Bottom line. I'm not a supporter of this ship. I don't like forced domestic bliss storylines.*shrugs*

ROSE: You're still you?
DOCTOR: I'm still me.
*a few hours later?...*
ROSE: But he's not you.
DOCTOR: He needs you. That's very me.
*reminds self this is a fic post on Clara and Twelve*

Perhaps Ten Too does ned Rose, at least to start with, but not necessarily in a romantic capacity. He needs a friend, perhaps a guide to being human, or part human.

True.
Buffy: You know, people underestimate the value of a good ramble.
If the Doctor hadn't had an extra hand (and Jack keeping it, plus Donna touching it etc), who knows how he'd would have convinced Rose to go back to the parallel universe. For obvious reasons Rose could not stay with him.

Yes. There were also soothsayers predicting what would occur by the end of series 4. So it was written.
Otherwise the Doctor would have still had his extra hand in that jar.
