Tosh was the most good-natured person Ianto had ever met, kind and generous, always willing to help her colleagues with any technical issues, or to listen to their problems.

She never complained about anything, and kept any grievances she might have to herself, because she preferred not to make a scene. She hated being in the spotlight.

“You shouldn’t let people walk all over you,” Ianto had told her on more than one occasion. “If they’re interrupting or annoying you, tell them.” He was, of course, talking about Owen and Gwen, who were always demanding immediate assistance for minor problems that could have waited until she’d finished whatever she was working on. “They’re taking advantage of you.”

“I don’t mind helping, honestly. Besides, it’s easier to fix whatever they’re having trouble with than to sit there listening to them complain.”

Even Tosh had her breaking point, however.

She’d been running through lines of code for more than three hours, looking for the cause of a glitch in the Hub’s security systems. It required a lot of concentration, but she couldn’t hear herself think over Gwen and Owen’s argument.

“SHUT THE HELL UP, BOTH OF YOU!”

Silence fell immediately.

“Thank you.”
