A/N: Double drabble.
“Which of UNIT’s bigwigs are we dealing with this time?” Jack asked as he drove down the motorway, keeping right on the speed limit, since Ianto had threated dire consequences if he got another speeding ticket.
“General Blanchard, apparently. I’ve never met him.”
“I have. Looks like a sunburned walrus, barks like a bad-tempered guard dog, and has no sense of humour whatsoever. Career military, married to his job, probably because nobody’s ever measured up to his standards. He still hasn’t forgiven me for what happened to him ten years ago.”
“What did you do?”
“Nothing serious, just got him drunk on Anthusian brandy, the really good stuff. How was I to know it would turn his moustache pink?”
“Maybe you should’ve stayed home and left this meeting to me. Setting up a joint task force between UNIT and Torchwood is going to be a delicate business. We’re going to need their resources and cooperation if we’re going to shut down the black-market sales of alien drugs. We can’t do it alone, and the police aren’t equipped for this kind of operation.”
“Don’t worry about it; General Blanchard won’t be a problem. Better the devil you know, and all that.”
