Spoilers/Setting: First half of Season Two.
Summary: Buffy just wanted an evening off, but it doesn’t look like she’ll be getting it.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters. They belong to the amazing Joss Whedon.
A/N: Double drabble.
“It could be worse.”
Buffy was kicking herself now for uttering those words. What had she been thinking? There was no surer way to jinx things than by saying something monumentally dumb, and now they were doomed. She’d opened her big mouth and made things worse.
She’d persuaded Giles to grant her some badly needed downtime, a nice, quiet evening with her friends, a quick patrol before and after, just to keep on top of things. They hadn’t even made it as far as the Bronze, which was really the only place worth hanging out, when they’d run across the demon, a nasty, toothy little thing. She’d figured she could just do her job, slay it, and then get back to the fun. After all, it was only a small demon.
So she’d slashed at it with a knife, and then instead of one small demon, she had two larger demons, and how did that even work? She cut the head off one, and then she had three demons, the last two bigger than the one she hadn’t chopped in half. Time to re-think the plan of attack.
So much for downtime; she needed Giles to consult his books, pronto.

I should say manageable for a slayer. That was explored more on Angel, where some of the lower level demons were being targeted by humans.

Date: 2021-05-01 08:31 am (UTC)Yeah. Pretty much. They can't help what they are. However, if they know better, they'd best stay on the down low. It's not like they can disguise themselves so easily as vampires do.
Unless you watch Charmed. All these sci-fi shows vary in regards to supernatural mythology.*shrugs*
