Double Drabble: Beach Weather

Summary: Ianto is making the most of a beautiful day before the weather turns cold again.

A/N: Double drabble.




Ianto sat on a sun-warmed rock, trousers rolled to his knees and bare feet dangling in the water, small wavelets cooling him and soothing the ache in his calves from a long walk across dry sand.


It was unusually hot for March. The forecast for the week ahead was for temperatures barely above freezing and a chance of snow, but that was hard to believe when right now it was in the seventies, the sky was blue, and it felt more like summer.


He’d left his jacket at the Hub, come out here in his shirtsleeves then left his shirt in the car, replacing it with one of Jack’s t-shirts, kept in the boot so that there was always something he could pull on post-death that wasn’t full of suspicious holes and soaked in blood.


The Rift had been kind today, dumping its flotsam on the beach, and Ianto had immediately volunteered for the retrieval, even though he knew it would mean a bit of a hike. The item was small, inorganic, harmless, a one-person job, and a couple of hours at the beach would make a pleasant change from filing. Why not enjoy the glorious weather while it lasted?

Everything is going smoothly for once. It was a long walk, and he might get a tiny bit sunburned, but it's a small price to pay.
