Summary: The latest alien to come through the Rift isn’t doing too well.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.

One of the biggest problems with the random alien creatures the Rift plucked from their homes and dumped in Cardiff was trying to keep them away from anything that might prove harmful to them. Very few of earth’s alien visitors were sentient, and fewer still were hostile. Most were merely animals, either wild or domestic, that had been unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Non-sentient species, of course, had no way of telling humans what would be hazardous to their health, and since everything on earth was unfamiliar to them anyway, they couldn’t be expected to avoid potential dangers.

“What’s wrong with it?” Ianto asked as Owen examined the small, fuzzy blue creature. Its eyes were glazed, there were lumps all over its body beneath its short fur, it was wheezing and shuddering, and its short, wiggly snout was dripping.

“It’s having a severe allergic reaction. Where’d you find it?”

“Splott. It was eating chips someone had dropped in the gutter.”

“Can’t be allergic to those though, can it?” Gwen asked. “I mean, chips are just potato fried in vegetable oil. Completely harmless.”

“Not to this chap. Its body can’t handle all that starch.”

The End

Shame nothing better than a nice bag of chips. You'd think Gwen would have learned not to judge aliens by Terran norms. But she never did.
