A/N: Double drabble.
“My treat,” Jack had said, leading Ianto into the restaurant. They’d been in London for the day, visiting Her Majesty, filling her in on all the latest news from Torchwood, something that because it involved such sensitive, highly classified information, was generally best done in person rather than over the phone.
Spending time with Lizzie was always a pleasure, and they’d joined her for afternoon tea while they were there, but that had been hours ago. As they’d left Buckingham Palace they’d been waylaid by a flunky from the PM’s office, and to avoid causing problems, had allowed themselves to be diverted to Downing Street for a private meeting. They’d then been kept waiting for almost two hours for the privilege of explaining that what the PM wanted to know was above his security clearance, and if he had a problem with that he could take it up with their boss, the Queen of England.
A lavish meal at a five-star restaurant had seemed only fair after that.
“Cash or charge?” the waiter asked, handing them their bill.
Jack reached for his wallet and froze.
Sighing, Ianto handed over his credit card. “You left yours at home again, didn’t you?”
