A/N: Double drabble.
The two coppers were waiting when Jack and Ianto exited the building.
“Right, you two, stop where you are, hands on your heads; you’re under arrest!”
“Arrest?” Jack glared indignantly at the boys in blue. “On what charge?”
“Breaking and entering.” The senior of the two policemen gave a self-satisfied smirk. “I’ve been waiting a long time to get you Torchwood jokers on something that will stick. It’s about time you lot learned you’re not above the law; with any luck there’ll be some jail time in your future.”
Ianto shook his head. “Sorry to disappoint you,” he said, not sounding sorry at all, “but you can’t arrest us.”
“Oh? And why might that be, sunshine?”
“Firstly, you caught us coming out, not going in; that’s an important point. Secondly, we didn’t break anything; check the locks if you don’t believe me, they’re completely undamaged.”
“That doesn’t prove anything; you could have picked the locks, or taken advantage of an open window for all I know.”
Ianto raised an eyebrow. “Why would we need to do that when we have the keys?”
“And what would you be doing with keys to this place?”
“It’s ours. We bought it this morning.”
