A/N: Triple drabble.
Ryo slumped at his desk with his head in his hands; he’d been off work due to injury for less than a week but the paperwork had piled up in his absence and now he was so far behind he didn’t know where to start.
‘I should have had Dee bring everything home for me to do there instead of lazing around reading and doing jigsaw puzzles,’ he thought, resisting the urge to groan out loud and maybe bang his head against the desk a few times for good measure. ‘So stupid.”
“Ryo? You okay there, bud? Maybe you should’a stayed home a bit longer. If you’re not feelin’ up to it I could have a word with the Chief…”
“No, I’m fine, Dee. It’s just all this paperwork; I hadn’t realised there’d be so much.” Ryo gestured vaguely at the pile of manila folders stacked on his desk.
If he was expecting sympathy from Dee he didn’t get it; his partner just laughed.
Pushing himself upright in his seat, Ryo scowled at him across the desk. “Glad you find it so amusing!”
“It’s not that; did you even bother to look at any of it?”
“What d’you mean?”
“If you had, you’d see most of it’s done; all ya need to do is give it a quick once over and sign it where necessary.”
“Done?” Ryo wondered if he was dreaming.
“Yep! Just because I hate paperwork doesn’t mean I can’t do it if I have to. It’s probably not as good as you’d have done, but…” Dee shrugged. “You had enough to deal with.”
Ryo pulled the first folder towards him, flipping it open, going over the papers inside; everything was just as Dee said.
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Then don’t say anything.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
