Summary: Angel doesn’t want to leave Buffy on her birthday, but there’s no other way.

A/N: Drabble and a half, 150 words.




Angel knows he needs to get going. This is the only piece they’ve managed to get their hands on and without it the Judge can’t be resurrected, so he needs to get it as far away from Sunnydale as he can, as soon as possible. That’s why they’re at the docks; ships are still the best way for vampires to travel, he can hide in the hold, safe from the sunlight, feed on rats. He’s done it before.


But Buffy is beside him, and the thought of leaving her on her birthday breaks his heart. He can see in her eyes that her heart is breaking too, although she’s trying to be strong.


How long might it be before he sees her again? Six months: A year? Never?


His birthday gift is all she’ll have to remember him by; a claddagh ring to show the world she belongs to him.
