BtVS Double Drabble: Disillusioned

Title: Disillusioned
Fandom: BtVS
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Xander, Natalie French.
Rating: PG
Written Using: The dw100 prompt Insect.
Setting: Teacher’s Pet.
Summary: Xander thought his luck with the opposite sex was changing for the better. He was wrong; it’s only gotten worse.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters. They belong to the amazing Joss Whedon.
A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.

Xander can’t get his head around any of this; Miss French is a gorgeous woman, stunning, sexy, any hormonal teenage boy’s dream come true, or that’s what he’d thought when he’d first met her. Better yet, she’d been interested in him, wanting him to stay behind after school and help her with some project or other, and he’d been more than willing, ready to do anything she asked, but that was then.

Since he woke up in this cage she’s been rapidly losing her appeal.

Sure, this is Sunnydale, built on a Hellmouth, a popular vacation spot for vampires, not to mention all kinds of demons if Giles is to be believed, but giant insects? How come nobody ever bothered to mention those?

Okay, so Buffy tried to warn him, and he refused to listen; who could blame him? He’d thought she was just jealous, but boy was she right! The beautiful Natalie French isn’t a woman at all; she’s an insect in disguise!

Xander’s never been a fan of bugs anyway, they’re horrible, creepy little scuttling things. Usually. This one’s human sized and that just makes it so much worse. Suddenly he wishes he hadn’t paid such close attention in Biology; he knows way too much about the mating habits of the Praying Mantis. He doesn’t want to get his head chewed off! He doesn’t want to be daddy to her offspring either.

He can’t afford to wait for the cavalry; he’d better start working on an escape plan.

The End

Amy Pond:...And I'm his mother in law.

It was a case of "The Doctor Needs A Wife" rather than wants one. For plot purposes. The concept of someone from the Doctor's future was interesting but being his wife was not.*frowns*

Okay.*sighs in relief*

Apparently Tom Baker was wondering why crushes never happened in the old series. Peter Davidson wasn't even allowed to put his arm around a female companion. It was all just hand holding. These days, it's always about "sexual tension".*shrugs*

Moffat said that Ten was the "Charmer", while Eleven was "Awkward". Twelve didn't want any of that "romance" stuff. Even if he got a tad jealous when River ignored him for another guy.

Donna had the right perspective and gave Ten what he needed and vice versa. I don't think Martha would have put up with Ten if she hadn't been infatuated with him. Luckily she was able to leave on her own terms.

Twelve and Bill was the closest to how it was in Old Who. She wasn't originally written as gay but Moffat changed it at the last moment.

It didn't stop the objectification of Leela though. At least she was tough.

Bill was refreshing after all the issues with Clara. I wish she could have travelled with Ten or Eleven too.

How pervy.*frowns*

Amy's reaction to seeing Leela's "leather bikini" type outfit in a deleted scene is priceless.:D

I suppose. Pearl Mackie said if she had a choice to travel with another Doctor, it would have been Eleven. Clara was fortunate enough to interact with Ten, Eleven, Twelve and the War Doctor. Although within a limited timeframe.

[Twice Upon A Time]

Ist Doctor: If I hear any more language like that from you, young lady, you're in for a jolly good smacked bottom.
Twelfth Doctor: Can we just pretend that that never happened?
Bill: I'm a broad-minded girl. I mean, I know we have this whole professor - student thing going on.
Twelfth Doctor: Can we just never, ever talk about this again?
Bill: I hope we talk about it loads!

[Then there was the minisode where the TARDIS kept hiding Clara's bedroom]

Clara: Dear God, that woman is made of legs. That's the most legs of any living human.*TARDIS shows Clara a picture of Amy*

Pearl Mackie said this at a panel show. Eleven and Bill just bouncing about in a platonic way.

I'm just thankful that it was only a hand kiss between Ten and Clara.

Originally a kids show to learn about science and history. Now it's deemed a family show with innuendos and paradoxes I cannot comprehend. I watched it for the other err...stuff.

Eleventh Doctor:...And what sort of job's a kissogram?
Amy: I go to parties and I kiss people. With outfits. It's a laugh.

*crickets chirps*

Why on why couldn't Amy have been a singing telegram instead?*shakes head*

Oh well, at least she branched out onto other jobs. Modelling, then journalist, then author. I think that's the order it went.

[identity profile] cynthia2015.livejournal.com 2020-05-01 10:26 am (UTC)(link)

It's either that or a character is deemed unattractive.*annoyed*

If it had been Torchwood, she would have. I know Karen Gillian has a decent singing voice so it would have been plausible to be a singing telegram.

*takes deep breath*

I will let this go.

It was over a span of ten years, on and off that she travelled with the Doctor. So it's normal for her to change career/jobs.

Yeah. Tackling serious issues in society is fine. But it doesn't have to be so full on. We get it RTD. This show isn't meant for the little kiddies. Sheesh! I had no interest in Gwen's shenanigans.*frowns*

Owen: What?
Diane: I'm waiting for you to pull out my chair.
Owen: Let me get this straight. You expect equality and chivalry?
Diane: I don't see why they should be mutually exclusive.

I didn't mind the Owen/Diane pairing. Specifically the emotional part of the "relationship". Too bad it was short lived. Diane seemed to be a woman ahead of her time. Even though she decided to go back to her own era, not knowing for sure if it would work out.

Yep it does. I found Amy's choice of career changes more plausible than Clara becoming a teacher all of a sudden.*shrugs*

[identity profile] cynthia2015.livejournal.com 2020-05-04 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
Gwen was never satisfied. Lets leave it at that.*shrugs*

I don't know much about Aviation. I've been in a cockpit once. This was years ago before security was heighten . Does that count?*kidding*

Diane just disappeared like Amelia Earhart. I'd like to think that she met the Doctor and he took her back home.

[identity profile] cynthia2015.livejournal.com 2020-05-05 10:23 am (UTC)(link)

You could say that her story was "left up in the air".*bad pun*

[identity profile] cynthia2015.livejournal.com 2020-05-06 09:22 am (UTC)(link)

That was too easy.:D

Coincidently, the episodes "Out Of Time" and "The Idiot's Lantern were both set in "1953".

*pause*

Ooh. I smell a fanfic idea.*brain going into story mode*

I just finished doing a draft.:)

Thanks for helping me with the brainstorming!
