Yep. Recycling stories are fine. Some are written better than others. My brother once said that its sad when a show you like ends but then there's always another one that comes along to fill that void.
Crushes are normal. I had a small crush on a guy at school. But it didn't last. Most crushes I had were on TV characters like Paul Gross aka Frasier on "Due South".;)
Your teacher sounds charming and nice. I wish there were more teachers like that.:)
