Aww!

My action figures are (mostly) put away. I want to buy a few more (the Monkees' Davy Jones is the perfect size to ride my Breyer horses - and as he was a jockey once and loved horses, it seems appropriate).

I keep acquiring more stuffed animals. I have more Schnauzers, foxes, and wolves than I know what to do with!

As a Monkees fan, I knew that about Davy but I didn't know there were Monkees action figures. How cool! I looked up the Breyer horses and I'm seriously in love, and wishing I were rich because I'd start collecting them myself. My action figures have a small stuffed pony I bought them a few weeks ago. They like it but their legs aren't jointed right for riding so they have to sit side-saddle.

I very much approve of your stuffed animal collection. I have only a one small wolf, sadly. You don't get a lot of wolves in Britain.

Oh, you can find Breyers inexpensively...used ones. :D Slightly banged up ones. eBay has some good ones!

I have about 300+ model horses. My bff and I usually get each other some each year for birthdays and/or Yule.

Aww! I always wanted a wolf puppet; one of my friends had one and he was glorious.

I'll have to take a look on ebay, although honesty I don't know where I'd put a load of new horses! Most of those I have are in boxes.

The wolf puppet sounds gorgeous. Wolves are among my favourite animals.

I only have about 45 of my horses out right now (in the living room - and 2-3 in my bedroom). At my own house, I had all of them out but...

Wolves are some of my favorite animals. I have some fur from an actual wolf I met once (he was 99% wolf). My crazy-ex-boss also had a 75% wolf who had to be euthanized (she had him in downtown and he needed room to run and a lot more time than she ever gave him. I hated hearing that he'd been euthanized because she should've never gotten him).

That's always the problem when you don't have the space to display your collection, but that's still a lot to dust!

How cool! An almost purebred wolf! They're such beautiful, noble creatures. Desperately sad about the one that was euthanized. Se definitely shouldn't have gotten him, it's irresponsible and unfair to the animal. =(

Yes! But I do like the ones I have out - my two favorite Halloween horses and a lot of the active and/or colorful ones.

Yes, he was part of a pack of about twenty. I was kind of round-about offered one of the puppies but I said "Absolutely not" to the person offering one to me because I knew I didn't have the patience for a wolf - nor the place to keep one. I don't ever see that happening in real life. I'll stick with my evil terriers. I know what they're gonna do on a general day. :D

Yeah, that she got that wolf-dog and had him for three years and he was mentally abused for almost the entire time killed me. He was such a handsome, smart animal. I considered stealing him when I left her employ but see the previous paragraph and me owning a wolf. (As an aside, when the crazy attorney drove 18 hours one way to get said animal, she offered to pick one up for me too. I laughed in her face.)

Always good to have your favourites where you can see them.

That's a lot of almost wolves! At least you were responsible, knowing you couldn't care for one the way it needed to be cared for.

Too bad the crazy attorney didn't have the same common sense. Sounds like she wanted the wolf dog as a status symbol rather than as a cherished and cared for companion. People need to be vetted for suitability to own something that needs so much care and exercise.

Alas, I have far more favorites of these horses than I have places to put them. I have duplicates of some molds just for the incredible paint jobs...

The only wild animal(s) I would even consider having for pets would be foxes and/or birds of prey. (Or maybe a Mustang because horses...sigh...horses.)

Crazy Attorney was all about animals as status symbols. She had another dog she claimed was half-wolf (he was a blond Chow and was recognized as that by a breeder as well as me), a pair of Highland Lynx cats, and a very large cichlid fish. None of which she took care of personally, either her housekeeper(s), nannies, or aquarium care guy did the caretaking. (It was the same with her kids, too - I was roped into babysitting and doing the kids' homework more time than I really wanted.)

When I was a kid, a friend of my sisters had a pet fox, lovely animal. I've been lucky enough to hold several birds of prey (a rescue centre sometimes brings some to various fetes so people can learn more about them). There's a picture of e somewhere on my journal with a great grey owl on my arm. Her name's Galadriel and she's gorgeous.

I adore horses, but I'm severely allergic to the dust in their coats. Can't breathe around them. =(

I hate people like that. Living creatures need to be treated with respect and cared for properly. Kids too.

There are. I have some very lovely ones that my BFF has given me over the years.

Oooo, you knew someone with a pet fox? You can own them locally with a license and there's a family that sells them (cheaper than the dogs I love) semi-locally (like, within about 3 hours-drive). They have some incredible colorations, too - not just red, grey, white, or blue - they have marbles and other funky colorations.

I often think I wo uld love to learn how to hawk but there's also a part of me that knows I don't like killing animals. I am not a hunter!

I had a pony when I was a kid. I loved her so much. My parents told me they'd buy me a horse but I've never gotten it. :\

I think I only met the fox once or twice, he brought it to our house on its leash. I remember it very well though. Not sure about the legality of ownership here in Britain but I've not heard of people breeding foxes as pets here.

I used to think that, but I couldn't be complicit in killing small animals and birds. I adore birds of prey though. Had a sparrowhawk crash land on top on my greenhouse once trying and failing to get a sparrow. She ended up in a bit if an undignified heap, not her best try, lol!

A girl up the road had several ponies over the years and used to sometimes bring her pony down to my house and take me for short rides. On holidays I'd go for an hour pony trek then barely be able to breathe for the rest of the day. It was pretty bad but I endured it just so I could ride.

That's still pretty cool. I always wanted foxes to come around my place in Florida. I had tortoises (endangered tortoises), buzzards, and possums, as well as poisonous snakes. We often could hear foxes but we never saw them.

A few friends of mine have owned parrots. I'm always nervous around them. I always figure they're gonna take a chunk out of my ear.

We used to have a lot of foxes around here, but I haven't seen or heard one in seven or eight years. They vanished when work was being done on the tram system nobody wanted. =(

We had pet tortoises growing up. Mine lived with us for 25 years before she got very ill and had to be put out of hr misery. We also acquired two strays, but only one is still alive now and lives with my sister.

Cockatiels aren't much bigger than budgies (which we've also had a lot of - my late brother-in-law had an aviary in out back yard where he bred show birds. I showed and tried to breed zebra finches). They do have sharp beaks though, and I was on the receiving end every time tee were claws or beaks to be trimmed. Worst of all though was a tiny stray lovebird I caught in the back yard one day. Vicious little beast!

I haven't ridden for at least that long either.

I heard foxes in the park this evening when I was walking Merlin. First I'd heard! That park butts up against a creek that runs to various woods throughout and outside town. I've seen an otter run from the creek and into the pond in the park and deer walking into the park, so foxes venturing in there wouldn't be a surprise. I try not to walk there too late in the evening any more though, I'd be too worried about spotting a coyote.

I never had any tortoises live longer than a year. The ones who lived next door to me at my Florida house, we marked them so we could recognize them. A couple of them were probably 30 or more years old from their size. WE were always most excited to see babies!

My friend has budgies currently. She's had them for years (mostly because she doesn't want to break her heart on rats again). She's promised when I move back to Florida that we'll put up a fence for my dog(s).

Cool, I bet they do venture into the park. You're so lucky to see an otter in the wild! I've seen plenty of deer and foxes, but never an otter or a badger. Running into a coyote would not be fun, I'm glad we don't have those here.

That's sad. One of our stray tortoises laid eggs one very hot summer, but nothing came of them. The weather here really isn't warm enough. My sister has a vivarium so the tortoise is cosy and doesn't need to hibernate. He wanders around the kitchen floor when she's home.

Budgies are great companions. Two of mine were strays found in gardens. We had a lot of budgies over the years.

I have spotted raccoons and possums in the park so foxes following them wouldn't be a big surprise. The deer made nests behind the house I'm living in currently one year - only for one night, though, and fortunately, because this area is pretty traffic-busy.

Yeah. I wouldn't mind having tortoises or turtles but I don't have the time/money to put into a safe place for them to live properly. Awww to the eggs.

One of my friends had a beautiful parrot land on her head when she was outside. No one ever claimed him so he's lived with her for about 30 years now!

We don't have possums or raccoons in Britain, sadly. Beavers and wild boar have been reintroduced in places, but nowhere near where I live. Traffic is always a danger to wildlife, sadly.

They're fascinating creature, but they do need the right conditions and proper care. Yes, it was sad. We did our best but I don't think they were fertile anyway.

That's quite the stray to acquire! We've had tortoises, a lost guinea pig, budgies, the lovebird I've mentioned before, and a ferret I found in the garden. Everything but the tortoises and the budgies got back to their owners. Good thing with the ferret because my rabbit did not approve of it being in the cage below his.

I'm not too keen on raccoons - fought with them on the roof a couple of times - but I do like possums. Mostly because they eat ticks and they're so ugly, they're kinda cute.

Traffic is terrible for animals. I always see deer dead on the side of the road when I travel to Kentucky (across the river) and have also seen dead coyotes - as well as raccoons and possums and a very few times, skunks.

Definitely an intriguing stray. The problem is, the bird only likes her in a household of four...plus all the other animals.

I'd just bet the rabbit didn't liek the ferret under it!

Raccoons I've heard can be a nuisance, but they're very smart. Possums are definitely cute, I wouldn't call them ugly. Then again, I've never met one in person, only on nature documentaries.

It's so sad to see anything that's been a victim of traffic.

Oh dear. Some creatures can be a bit overprotective of their chosen people.

Yeah, poor Misty was stamping all night. I didn't get much sleep either, I could hear him, but there was nowhere else I could the ferret where it couldn't get out.

Raccoons are kind of dangerous and can be rabid (as opposed to possums, who hiss and pretend to be dangerous - and very very rarely are rabid). I had a young possum eating my cat's food when I was younger. He'd hiss at us and I'd tell him he was silly and no one was going to mess with him. He'd usually hide in a box and hiss from inside it when we (me & my dogs) were outside.

It really is.

Merlin is! well, he's protective in the house. He doesn't like strangers (read: anyone but Mom and me) in his house.

Yeah, I tend to forget about rabies. Living on an island with quarantine restrictions has kept it out most of the time. Scary!

The possum siounds adorable!

Next door has a dog like that, but Scrumpy was probably abused, he hates men especially and is wary of most people except those he lives with.

Sadly Misty has been gone for some years, but he was a lovely rabbit, a big softie.

Yeah, I was shocked when I saw a video of a woman jumping into a pack of hounds to rescue a fox from them, thinking, "She's gonna get rabies!" Then I heard the accents and realized, Oh, British. Though I applauded her efforts anyway.

Possums are adorable for little golem creatures.

Merlin was probably abused. I think he lived on the street for a while. He's housetrained though - so he did have a family at one point. But he acts a lot like a street dog. I hope Karma will help him - I think he misses Rogue at least on some level.

My friend is a rabbit and small animals fan. She volunteers at the humane society so she can play with the bunnies, ratties, mice and hamsters.

Fox hunting is deplorable. We did manage to get it banned over here, mostly, but I think it still happens some places.

Two of my neighbour's dogs are rescues, and most of their cats we unwanted. The chickens are ex-battery hens. Lots of animal lovers around here.

Guinea pigs are my favourite pets. I miss having them but I'm not in a position to at present. Rabbits are my second favourite, but I won't have another. I had to put Misty through dental surgery so many times and I can't take the chance of having to do that with another animal. Too much to deal with now I live alone. My mum used to to help with the post-surgery meds. One person cannot do it alone.

I am very against hunting with dogs. I'm not too keen on hunting in general because I don't care what hunters say, they really have the advantage.

I have had a few rescue dogs - Callie, Chief, Pewter, Vinnie, Merlin, and now Karma. And the dogs I paid for, Frosteigh, Li'l, Dodger, and Rogue. All but Vinnie were Schnauzers. I'm rather loyal to my breed but I'd still love a Border collie if I ever get somewhere I could have that active of a dog.

I can understand that about not having another rabbit or pig. I get too depressed without dogs. When Li'l had to be put to sleep, I didn't get a dog for two years (I lived with my parents then and they didn't want another dog). It was a pretty miserable time for me.
