Title: Band Of Gold
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 567: Ring at
tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Ianto isn’t used to wearing a ring.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto twisted the ring on his finger as he waited in the queue at the post office. It was still so new to him; he’d never been one for wearing rings, and it felt… not uncomfortable, just odd. Different.
He supposed in time he’d get to the point where he no longer noticed its presence, but he wasn’t sure he wanted that to happen. He didn’t want to take it for granted, not ever; it was a symbol of the vows he and Jack had made to each other, and while it felt strange it was a strangeness he relished.
Whenever he was doing nothing, just waiting around like he was now, he found himself fiddling with the narrow gold band with its bevelled edges, remembering the day less than a month ago when Jack had slipped it on his finger, and he’d responded by placing its twin on Jack’s. The memory never failed to make him smile.
On the inside of the ring, against his skin, were engraved the words ‘Forever Yours’, and they were meant literally. Eternity stretched out before them, but that was okay because they would always have each other, right to the end of time.
