Summary: Jack was obviously lying when he said there was no job for Ianto with Torchwood Three.

A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto stared at Torchwood’s archives with a sinking feeling in his stomach; they were an unbelievable mess. How did Captain Harkness expect him to sort them out?
“Didn’t any of your predecessors think to catalogue all this stuff?” Torchwood One’s archives were pristine, with every item carefully listed on a computer database and kept in its assigned place in the stacks, but this… It didn’t look like any attempt had ever been made to sort the objects that fell through the Rift.
“Of course they did; what could be identified got catalogued and sent to London for research and storage, but a lot of this stuff nobody ever managed to figure out what it was. Anything that didn’t seem to have a useful purpose was put down here out of the way, to be looked into later.”
“And I suppose ‘later’ never came.”
“Well, we’ve always been a small team, and the Rift dumps new stuff on us all the time. Some of it got investigated and labelled, but…”
“But what?”
Harkness shrugged. “The labels kept falling off and getting lost, and sometimes they got put back on the wrong things.”
Ianto groaned. “Wonderful. I’ll have to start from scratch!”
