A/N: Triple drabble.

Strolling towards Ryo’s apartment, Dee spotted something sparkling in the gutter; he thought the small silver coin was a dime until he picked it up, then he realised it was a British five pence piece. Someone probably got it in their change and tossed it as useless.

He grinned. What was that old rhyme Mother taught him way back when he was a kid? Oh yeah; see a penny, pick it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck. Well, this was a five pence so maybe that meant he’d have five times the luck! With a spring in his step, he carried on towards his destination.

By the time he reached his lover’s home, Dee’s good mood had taken a decided downturn. Ryo opened the door to find his partner standing in the hallway dripping wet and splattered with mud. There were two large muddy splodges near Dee’s shoulders that looked oddly like paw prints.

He stared in bewilderment. “What on earth happened to you?”

“You know that rhyme about findin’ a penny bein’ good luck?” Dee asked as he dripped his way into the apartment.

“I’ve heard it.”

“Well it’s a lie. I found five pence, but then as I was passin’ that little park down the block the hound of the Baskervilles came tearin’ out, knocked me flat on my back, and stood on me; thought it was gonna eat me. Damn thing was drippin’ wet and covered in mud, probably been in the fountain, so now I’m soaked. I hate dogs.”

“Must have been Clyde, Mr Yorimoto’s wolfhound; he’s very playful.”

“Playful? I’d hate to see it in a bad mood!”

“You’d better shower; I’ll find you something to wear.”

“Thanks, babe. Next time I see a coin in the street I’m leavin’ it be.”
