Hi! How's life going in your wee corner of the world? Have the workers finished the ceiing yet? How's your weather? Have you gotten out of the house again, maybe down to the shops, or just to putter in the gardens? How's your mum doing?
My gran is 93+1/2 (that half is very important to her) and about a month ago, she summoned the emergency services - she was so weak she couldn't get out of bed (she always sleeps with a phone under the vacant pillow) - to take her to hospital. She was there for a couple of weeks, and they transferred her to a hospital-connected rehab center & residential care centre. She can go out to a communal dining room and other areas, or she can have her meals in her room. Unfortunately, she's so weak that she stays in her room all the time with 24-hour care, a lovely lady who feeds her, takes her to the loo, just takes care of her.
I know that she's not ever going home again. But that's all right - she's lived a long, happy & blessed life, and my grandfather's been gone for about 14 years.
I can't even call her, my aunt says she just too weak to talk. Although she does like to be taken to the rehab area even tho she can't do anything, she does like to just watch.
So, I've got prayers going up that she's not going to suffer, that when it's time she just goes to sleep and wakes up never knowing that she's passed.
Well, enough of the gloom -- have missed talking to you! I picked up a LongLiveIanto bingo card and have been working on that, plus I've decided to do a multi-chapter fic, but rther than write as I go, I want the entire thing finshed before I post, so I don't not finish the story and just leave people hanging, because that's the hugest pet peeve I have about reading fanfic.
Okay, love you & miss you - hope things are looking up a tad for you!!! Talk more later!!! Melinda
Everything else be damned, I am sleeping on my bed tonight, come what may! Not IN the bed - it's nat made up yet, bedding is airing after being stuffed in the boxroom for over 2 weeks, it's damp in there - but at least on top of it in a sleeping bag. My hips were criplling me this morning after last night on Fred the inflatable bed, I could barely walk, so enough is enough, even if the bed isn't quite ready, I'm sleeping on it *stubborn glare*
Weather here has been beautiful today, but supposed to be turning cold again tonight, so I spent today in the garden, pruning the buddleias and a few other things. I think the arctic temperatures in December have killed off our Fuschias though. Drat! While the weather is cold and wet, I'll spend the time packing boxes for storage, but I felt in need of some fresh air and sunshine today.
Sorry to hear about your Gran, I hope when it's her time she passes peacefully into the next life. Mum has been out shopping today, so she's tired and cranky, snapping at me for no reason. Such is life. Still, at least I had a pretty good day!
Oooh, longliveianto bingo - what prompts did you get? I've been looking at other people's cards and there are some good ones and some pretty dull sounding ones. Did you get Tentacles? A couple of people have got that one, hoping they do something racy with it - I love Janto tentacle smut and there's not enough about! Good luck with your bingo card, and with the longer fic too!
HEEEEE HEE HE!!!! You are so kinky!!! Fred the inflatable bed!!!! That's hysterical, but then you add in tentacle sex, and you're killing me!
But, I am so glad you're back in your own bed, or at least on it, for the night. I love to travel, but the absolute best part of any trip is coming home to my OWN bed, my OWN bathroom, my OWN stuff.
Hope you have a wonderful, deep and restful sleep. Thanks for your wishes and prayers for Mimi - Backrose_17 could use them as well - she writes that her gran is fading fast. My thoughts & prayers are with her.
Yes, I saw about blackrose_17's grandma over on DreamWidth, so I left her a message there. It's a difficult time for quite a few people right now.
Fred the bed is officially retired now. I've spent the last 4 nights on my own bed and it's much better, I'm not in danger of falling off the edge - good thing too, I don't remember my bed being this high before, the floor seems a long way away! It's nice to wake with the morning sun through my window, to be able to go to bed when I want to instead of waiting for mum to go to bed before I can make my bed up. Best of all, it's nice to sit in my room with the computer on, in the quiet, instead of having the TV blaring all day! Bliss!
I was never kinky before Torchwood fanfic - Jack has corrupted me, or made me more open-minded or something! I'm not complaining though, it makes life more interesting! I now have kinks I didn't know existed - the internet is clearly very educational =) Never knew tentacles had so many possibilities - I'll never look at an octopus the same way again =0
Jack/Ianto/tentacles - what's not to love? Torchwood needs more tentacles, I'm becoming obsessed! I'm no longer suited to polite company! *evil grin*
*hugs without a tentacle in sight* Hope things are good with you!
Wow - four nights in a row sleeping what, at least a foot off the floor. You never cease to amaze me!! I suppose you've gone whole hog with proper sheets and a duvet? Golly but some people live a pampered life!!!
I'm so happy for you!!! As for me and my bed? I've got to strip it down and wash everything today - at some point in the night, someone (& I'm not sure who) decided to barf on my duvet. A nice big juicy yak that soaked all the way down to the mattress pad. So it's lots of laundry and a trip to the laundromat for the duvet, since my washer won't fit it. Stupid thing calls itself a full-size washer - my fat butt it is!!!! At my last flat, the full-size washer was just that - I could fit a queen-size duvet, quilt or blanket in there with no problem. This stupid machine faints when I want to wash the sheets & mattress pad together!!!!
Anyway, I'm so glad you're comfy again - I'm sure your body is worshipping your bed!!! Hope you're feeling so much better - I know I am just knowing that you're getting comfortable again.
Sorry about the fuschias - I miss having a garden with flowers and veg so very very much - it's just not feasible here in LV, the summer heat just fries everything crispy!!! I've tried so many times - Lord if I had the money I've spent on everything garden-related, I'd be flying 1st class to the UK this instant!!!!!
Gonna send you a PM - got a favour to ask!!! Love you bunches, and again, congratulations!!! Me
PS: don't suppose Nosy has asked if he can come sleep with you again????? Just wondering & hoping!!!
Heh, I'm flying high, at least 2 feet off the ground! It's a long way down for a short person!
Oh, the joys of having cats - they're so helpful! We've got piles of washing to do here because our machine is broken. Can't even take it to the launderette (as we quaintly call them in England *g*) because there's a bloody skip in the drive still so I can't get my car out to transport everything.
Sad to say, Nosy is still on vacation, currently managing to be with both cjharknessgirl and rift_bound at the same time - no idea how! We're still in such a mess, I barely have time to think let alone write! Battling on though.
