Don't feel bad--I had to read the tags too and I'm American! :-p I just had no idea the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings were at Wembley, of all places, so I just assumed she was talking about local teams. :-p

Even now, American Football isn't that well known in Britain, despite its popularity.

Great game, quite close. The Steelers just screwed up and the Vikings have the ball back!

There's usually one regular season game played at Wembley each year these days, but this year we're getting two!

YAY! The Vikings scored another touchdown! WOOHOO!

(No idea why I'm cheering the Vikings on, they're rivals to my Bears, I should be rooting for the Steelers, but I've always enjoyed watching the Vikes play).

It's a good game, quite close during the first half but now the Vikes are pulling away, 34-17 and Big Ben just got sacked. Again. Lol! He's an easy target, there's a lot of him for the Vikes defence to go after. I've lost count of how many times he's gone down.

Come on Vikes!

Sounds exciting. :) I also heard on the same report that the NFL is looking to expand abroad with teams and clubs in the next few years. Might mean you'll have access to more games in the future.

There are British teams, but their games aren't televised. So unfair.

Very close game, edge of the seat in the last few minutes. I'm happy with the result.

They made it sound like it would be the NFL handling the teams. I dunno, it was a brief story and Mum was having fun with the accents. She's convinced they're made up for the media and no one really talks like that. She can be embarrassing at times.

Sometimes those are the best games. Sounds like an awesome time. :)

My only regret is that I won't get to see the Bears play, but the other Wembley game will be the 49ers, so there's that.

There should be a league run by the NFL that plays games in summer, that would be excellent. Especially if they were televised at times I could watch! Regular season games are being shown as usual, but they don't even start here until gone 1am.

Lol! Your mum would get a shock if she came over here. I'm not fond of English regional dialects, they sound grating to me. I love the Welsh accent, but that's a completely different thing. A lot of the regional dialects are incomprehensible to me, and I'm English. Mind you, I sort of have a London accent myself (not the same thing as a Cockney accent), despite not living there. My mother is a Londoner so I guess I get it from her. I've lived all my live in the Midlands and used to get teased for my lack of a local accent. A little bit has crept in over the years, but I still don't really sound like a local. My sister does though.

I can only imagine. That's the problem with time differences. I get that a lot when I want to watch a livecast of something from Tokyo. It's nearly impossible.

Oh, she totally would. It always surprises me when she says that because of how much we've traveled, and how much she traveled before I was born. Heck, she even lived in Germany for a time. Oh well, if I come to school in London, she'll come to visit and then she'll be able to hear it. :)

Regional accents are always interesting. There's only a few places in America where they aren't found - I live in one of them. We do have our quirks on words though. For example, I say "creek" like "crick" rather than "creak". Been teased for that one.

I prefer American accents to the different English ones. They're a lot easier on the ears - and the brain.

*giggles* Have you run across deep south accents? I have the darndest time with Georgia and Alabama. To me, "right" should not be said as "rat".

Yep, I have, many times, and I have no problem understanding southern accents. Give me a Newcastle accent and I get maybe one word in three. I was obviously born in the wrong country, lol!

I was talking to my mom about this game! (I'm originally from Pittsburgh, so the Steelers are my "home" team ^_~) It's so weird to me that they went all the way over there for one game! Kind of exciting too though =D

It was a good game too, very close in the end. There's another game at Wembley next month - the 49ers! YAY!

Yep! Can't remember who they're playing but what does that matter? IT'S THE 49ers! My second favourite team after my Bears. I remember the days with Joe Montana and Jerry Rice...
