Title: Stargazing
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Setting: After Vol. 7.
Summary: Dee is learning there are some good things about camping.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Stargazing’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.
Dee has lived most of his life in the city, with occasional forays out into the world beyond. City life is what he knows. Camping out in the middle of nowhere is a completely alien experience for him, with biting bugs, hazardous plants, wild animals, and the ever-present possibility of snakes, the one thing he’s truly afraid of.
He and Ryo have been out here three days and already he misses indoor plumbing, hot showers, electric lights, air conditioning, cold beer, TV, and his bed with its mattress and comfy pillows. Ryo’s having a good time though, and Dee figures he can put up with the primitive living conditions to make his lover happy. After all, it’s only for two weeks; surely he can survive that.
Besides, it’s not all bad. It’s kind of fun cooking over a campfire, and the lake’s good for swimming in during the hottest part of the day. With nobody else around they don’t even need to bother with swimsuits, which leads to plenty of other enjoyable activities. He’s even kinda enjoying the long hikes through the woods that Ryo keeps dragging him on; he has to admit Ryo picked a beautiful spot for them to camp.
The best part is this though; lying on their backs on a blanket late at night, listening to owls hooting, and staring up at a sky so full of stars it seems unreal. They never shine this bright in the city. Maybe he could get used to camping.
The End
