Oh Lord, what a day! Thunderstorms, torrential rain and I had to take Misty to the vet for his check up.

Wasn't too bad setting out. The rain was pouring by then, but I already had the garage and the drive gates open so I only had to dash through the rain for a minute. By the time I pulled out of the garage though, the rain was so heavy visibility wasn't too good, so I was driving pretty slowly and thankfully all the other drivers seemed to be taking more care than usual too. Just as well - one of the roads I have to use dips down and then up again and it's completely flooded for about 15 feet, under at least 6 inches of water. Really don't want to go through that too fast!

Thankfully, by the time I reached the vet the rain was easing up so I didn't get too wet making a dash for the waiting room. Which was packed with dogs. Felt like it anyway! One huge Husky, one chocolate Labrador and a Bull Terrier that really wanted my rabbit and nearly pulled its owner off his chair three times trying to get to him. Oh, and there was a Shih Tzu puppy too - easy to overlook among the others.

Anyway, Misty is booked in next Tuesday to have a very overgrown tooth removed. I'd hoped it wouldn't come to that, but despite his age his teeth are still growing. *sigh* George the vet did present me with a lovely bunch of homegrown carrot tops for Misty though, which was nice.

The rain held off until I was home and had the car put away, but it started up again while I was putting mum's mobility scooter back in the garage. I managed that and one of the bikes before the heavens opened, trapping me there. I figured I'd wait it out, but then along came the postman and left two parcels propped against the door of the house across the road. It's only shielded by a tiny porch overhang and the car was gone so I figured no one was home and the parcels, whatever they were, would be ruined in just a few minutes, so being the mad fool I am, I dived out in the rain, grabbed a big plastic bag from our porch and scampered across the road to wrap the parcels against the wet. Turned out the man of the house was in, but his wife had taken the keys so he couldn't open the door. I was wet by then anyway, so I passed the parcels through the window and dashed back across the road and into the garage again. There wasn't much point though, I was soaked to the skin already, so I got the other bike put away, pulled down the garage door, and got a deluge of water off it. I think most of it missed me, but I was so wet anyway it was hard to tell. I think I was laughing like a mad woman by that point, it was all so ridiculous.

I was so glad to get changed into dry clothes though. My jacket and jeans were drenched and the rain had even got inside my shoes and made my socks wet! Of course, mum had to wait until I'd changed to tell me we were out of milk, so I had to change back and go out in the rain again to the corner shop, in my wellies this time to save my feet from another soaking. What fun.

At least I'm dry now. Of course, now I'm home and indoors. it's stopped raining and the sun has come out. Typical! Maybe I can hang my wet clothes out and get them dry...

OMG you had a real adventure! I remembered those sudden and "tropical like" storms when I was living in Bournemouth, wind and rain is not the best combination.
Hope Misty will do well next week and he should teach his teeth to stop growing ;)
Hope you are now dry and comfy and enjoying the sun :)

We had a big downpour Friday night. There was no rain predicted so I had no umbrella, no coat (it had been hot)no nothing.

I came out of a local theater and had to make a dash for a taxi. I was soaked with just that short distance.

Being a weather forecaster is the only job where you can be wrong 100% of the time and not get fired.

Fortunately, it was a short cab ride. I was greeted by Teddy & Ida who were terribly concerned (not) as I stood dripping wet in the kitchen.

"Feed Me! Feed Me!"

Yeah, I fed them before I left for the play.

As they say, no good deed goes unpunished ;) But I think it was very nice of you to run over despite the rain to save the parcels; I wish our neighbors were that considerate!

I hope Misty will be alright!

That just sounds like so much fun! Not!

When I went to Florida for my vacation, it rained every day I was there. When I got back home, it was to rain...and it rained every day for a week and a half. It was nuts! So I kinda know what you're going through.

And of course the sun always comes out just after you got soaked, twice!

Sounds like you had quite the day. Rains like that can be fun, but not being out in them. :) Glad you were able to get in and get dried off.

*hugs* for Misty. I can't be fun for him. Hope this is the last one.

I know what you mean! That was here too, it was so hot and humid you'd go outside and it was like being smacked in the face with a hot, soaked towel. Mom got sick after going outside, but she's fine now.

Yeah, my laptop's hard drive crashed, which is why I haven't been around. I finally got my computer back, and luckily the tech was able to save a lot of my stuff. Good thing, I have a lot of writing on this thing!

Our street was like that, too. I've lived here all my life as well (except for the first year of my life) and my grandfather was very much a part of our town's community. But then, some darn stupid rumors were spread in revenge because of an argument - I don't know the details and I don't want to either - and people started to keep their distance from us, though never when my grandfather was still around. That's so stupid!

Everyone has teeth trouble, even our pets ^.^"

Yep, what made it worse was the fact that I have an external hard drive, and am usually good about backing up...but I hadn't in a couple of months because I've been so busy lately. I've since learned my lesson and plan on backing up at least once a month.

Stupid livejournal. Always goes down at the worst times.

It can't be easy for him. Surgery is hard on everyone.

Driving through water isn't fun. I've never done it, just been a passenger, but Mum and I ended up in a flooded area last year when we were in Florida during a tropical storm. If I'd opened my door, the car would have flooded. I don't know how we made it through. It's really wicked scary.

Not something I want to repeat, that's for sure. I'll have to bring some of the pics over from my facebook page. This was a city street, so we knew there wouldn't be dips, but it would have been up to my hips had I been out walking and I'm 5'7". That's a tropical storm system though.

Surgery is no fun for anyone. Sounds like he'll be able to pull through this one. Really, really hope it's the last one he has to go through.

In a few places, you might have. It was pretty bad.

Wow, yeah, water in engines is not good. I think ours was sealed against it, given the part of the world we were in.

What an adventure! Misty is lucky to have such a dedicated person to take care of him. A lot of people would have just cancelled, I think!

Interestingly, we had a massive thunderstorm at the same time, but we're five hours behind so it was late at night/early in the morning. It woke me up out of a sound sleep and it sounded like the thunder as coming from right on top of the house. And the rain was coming down in sheets. I love thunderstorms--have been known to go take walks in them on purpose--but even I was frightened. It went on so long it seemed like the world was ending. I wanted to call Torchwood because the storm definitely didn't seem like it was normal! Is there a Rift over Philadelphia, do you think?

Glad you (and Misty) are OK!

It can be, yeah.

Oh, that would have been a phone call. Would he have come out to help you in the storm?

Being nuts is the only way to survive most days. *Grins*

That's the honest truth. I'd rather be seen as insane any day.

Yikes, what a day!
I'm guessing you've dried out by now though! Lol.
Unless you got caught in the same storm we had earlier this evening... luckily I was in and dry, and the cats appeared shortly after it started raining and let me towel them dry too. Gordon is quite used to it, but the neighbour's cat, Tigger, made a bit more of a fuss!
