Summary: Jack deserves to be punished, but Ianto’s threat isn’t having the desired effect.

Jack was grinning like the cat who’d got the cream when the rest of the team arrived for work one rainy Cardiff day.

Owen eyed him suspiciously. “What’s got you lookin’ so happy on such a dismal day? Or is this one of those times I’m goin’ to regret askin’?”

“I broke Ianto’s houseplant and replaced it without telling him,” Jack beamed. “He’s promised to spank me for it! I believe his exact words were, ‘You just wait until tonight; I’ll spank you until you can’t sit down for a week’.”

Owen blanched. “Right, I’ll just forget I asked. I really did not need to know that.”

Handing Owen his coffee, Ianto gave a put-upon sigh. “Jack, how many times do I have to tell you? That was a threat, not a promise.” He smiled ruefully at Owen. “It’s really difficult to punish someone who enjoys it so much. It ends up being more like a reward.”

“Why don’t you just withhold sex like a normal person?”

Ianto looked horrified at the thought. “Are you out of your mind? I only want to punish Jack, not myself!”

“He can’t be that good,” Owen scoffed.

“Trust me, you have no idea.”

Same with me, even if it's just thank you. So many writers don't even do that and I just stop commenting after a while.

Some people I know don't have much time to spare for replying to all my comments so I still comment on their work, but otherwise I eventually stop commenting, but I still comment on old fics where journals aren't being updated because you never know if the writers might still be around.

You are better than me. There are some who I try really hard to comment on because no one else does. I feel badly for them and try to make sure I leave a few words of encouragement. it's only right.

Well, they're friends of mine so I understand.

Encouragement is good.

One time though, I commented on the first couple of chapters of an old fic and the writer promptly took the whole fic down. Never replied to my comments or anything. That was just rude.

That is an odd reaction. perhaps they had taken down other stuff, but missed this one. That's a little still strange not to have at least explained her/his actions.

If they didn't want people reading it, why was it there? There were plenty of other fics too, so I don't understand the reaction, especially as I left comments saying how much I was enjoying it. I don't understand some people. Every other time I've commented on an older fic and the writer has responded, they've been delighted That someone's still reading. =/

They might have pulled everything else and missed that. I remember one of my favorite writers pulling her stuff because she was afraid that her work would discover her very hot and steamy slash and she would be fired. it's a crazy world out there and people do extreme things to protect themselves from backlash.

Perhaps, but the journal still hosted a lot of other fics and as far as I could see,the writer was still writing. The one I was reading wasn't steamy so it's doubtful that was their concern. It just left me baffled.

It's very sad that people have to fear backlash from writing.
