It really is a redeeming scene for Dee. He wants Ryo, but Ryo has to genuinely want him too. He'll keep pushing Ryo's boundaries, but whenever Ryo doesn't put up a fight, Dee pulls back. He wants Ryo too much to risk wrecking things before they even get started. He needs to know that Ryo is ready, willing, and in his right mind before they sleep together, and even after their first time, he still wonders if Ryo just gave in to get it over with.
