I gave this chapter a lot of thought, because I felt it was important that Jack should know he couldn't have done things any other way. As devastating as it was, he really had no other choice because he'd been backed into a corner by the idiots who thought giving the aliens what they wanted was a great idea. He needed to stop hating himself.
