FAKE Drabble: Family Lost, Family Found
Title: Family Lost, Family Found
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Dee, Ryo
Rating: G
Setting: Somewhere towards the end of Vol. 1
Summary: Bikky thinks about the family he lost and the one he’s gained.
Written For: The tw100 prompt ‘Mom And Dad’
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
Standing in the kitchen doorway, Bikky watched Ryo fixing dinner. Ryo was the best cook he’d ever met. His mom hadn’t been that good, not that he could remember, and his dad could barely make toast.
He missed his parents. His mom died when he was little, then his dad got himself killed and Bikky had been scared, wondering what would happen to him.
But here he was, in his new home with Ryo, who was kinda mom and dad rolled into one. He wasn’t sure how he’d got so lucky, but he vowed never to take Ryo for granted.

I have a bit of Rose from Dee's POV coming soon, and I'll see if I can do Dee and Ryo from Rose's POV for you. The canon-based drabbles I've written so far have been mostly based on Vol. 1 and Vol. 7, haven't got around to doing much with drabbles from the other volumes yet, but it's about time I did! I'll have to do some re-reading of Vol. 2 and see what comes of that. Not sure how good I'll be at writing Berkeley, he strikes me as rather sly and used to getting his own way whereas Dee is more honest and open.
Thank you for the compliments, it's great to hear from someone else familiar with the characters that I'm doing a good job with them. I'd been reading the manga over and over for a couple of years before they started demanding that I try writing them; I think I needed that time to get a feel for them before attempting writing them. They are both similar and completely different to my other pairing, Jack & Ianto. Plus, I'm British so trying to write a couple of New York detectives is a challenge!
I'm always happy to get prompts and ideas for FAKE. There are too few people interested in the fandom these days, which is sad.
Thanks again!
