Drabble: Urban Redevelopment
Title: Urban Redevelopment
Author: badly_knitted
Characters: Jack, Ianto
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 316 – Reverse Fandom – How I Met Your Mother at tw100
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Jack’s been having fun.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: This will probably be my last drabble for this challenge. I don’t have any more written and tomorrow I need to post two of my bingo fics, the first two parts of my big AU series. There will be seven parts altogether, of wildly varying lengths. So, apologies if there’s no drabble for a couple of days. I hope to resume drabbles on Thursday.
Stepping into Jack’s office early one morning, Ianto found his lover watching CCTV on his computer and grinning.
“What’s got you so happy this damp and dreary morning?”
“Come and see this!”
Ianto joined Jack and leant over his shoulder. The screen showed a nearby building site, where a load of sand had been delivered the previous day. The builders were standing around it scratching their heads, bemused and unsure how to proceed. Sometime during the night, someone had got past site security and turned the building sand into sandcastles.
Ianto laughed.
“Bored last night, were you?”
“Couldn’t resist it!”
The End
A/N2: Title used was ‘Sandcastles In The Sand’

And then LJ made me split one story into three parts and kept taking the line breaks out every single time. I must have put them back in at least 10 times, took an hour and a half to post one story here. Yesterday was a tad frustrating. Plus my CD player broke so I didn't even have music. Forget Friday the 13th, apparently it's Wednesday the 25th I need to worry about o_O
Hoping to get things right today! Wish me luck, I'll probably need it ;)
Thank you for pointing it out though, I really hate making silly mistakes, I pride myself on my spelling, it's one thing I know I can do. Sadly, my hands can't spell as well as my brain can.

I usually only use betas for some of my longer fics, and not for drabbles, but I usually do several edits on everything I write and still manage to miss silly things. I posted a drabble once and then realised I'd left the 'r' out of Thursday.
I would never have guessed you're not a native English speaker, you're English is better than that of a lot of people who claim English as their first language.

Maybe it's partly because I use English a lot (read, write, speak and also when thinking), and maybe partly because of spending my fist few years in USA (parents studied there). Grammar bits (the 'to', 'from' etc. bits especially) are still somewhat clumsy when I write stuff, though.
(edit: up here we also don't dub stuff, which helps - only movies for kids are possibly dubbed)

*can* change things - 'tuli'/'tulli'/'tuuli' (fire/customs (like encountered while traveling)/wind) or 'lakkaa satamasta' ((when it)stops raining/(to go get)shellac from a harbor)).
