FAKE Triple Drabble: Not A Substitute
Title: Not A Substitute
Fandom: FAKE
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: JJ, Drake, Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Setting: After Like Like Love.
Summary: Drake isn’t a substitute for Dee, he’s JJ’s one and only.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Substitute’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Triple drabble.
JJ had been in lust with Dee for as long as Drake had known him, so he supposed it was only natural that his boyfriend should be a bit insecure. Their relationship was still quite new, they’d only been together for a few weeks, and they worked with Dee practically every day.
But JJ was over Dee completely; he’d moved on to someone so much better for him than Dee could ever have been. Looking back, it was difficult for JJ to understand how he could have been such a fool for so long, pining over someone he’d never had a hope of winning. Truth was, if he and Dee ever had gotten together it would have been an unmitigated disaster.
Dee had Ryo now, and that was the way it should be. Ryo was everything to Dee that JJ could never have been, the stabilising influence Dee needed. JJ would have let mister tall dark and studly get away with anything, whereas Ryo had no trouble setting him straight when he got out of line.
Deep down, what JJ had always wanted was to be needed, and nobody needed him the way Drakey did. It was such a delight to pamper his lover, making up for the way Drake’s ex-girlfriends had treated him. They’d been so mean to him, trying to change him into someone he wasn’t when he was already close to perfect. They didn’t know what they’d lost.
When Dee entered the squad room, JJ didn’t so much as glance in his direction. Why would he when everything he could possibly want was right in front of him? No matter what it took, JJ was determined to prove to Drake that he wasn’t merely a substitute for Dee; he was the only man JJ would ever want.
The End
