BtVS Double Drabble: Stealthy

Title: Stealthy
Fandom: BtVS
Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Buffy, Angel.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 189: Sound at [livejournal.com profile] drabble_weekly.
Spoilers/Setting: First half of Season 2.
Summary: Being a vampire, Angel is very stealthy, most of the time.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters. They belong to the amazing Joss Whedon.
A/N: Double drabble.

As a vampire, Angel’s capable of being so stealthy he makes no more noise than a shadow drifting though the darkness. That’s fine though; Buffy’s the Slayer and even when she can neither hear nor see him she can always sense his presence.

Partly it’s the whole Slayer senses thing that Giles talks about, the ability to know when there’s a vampire nearby, but it’s more than that; sensing random vamps is one thing, but there’s a different quality to the silence surrounding Angel, less menacing and more… comforting, perhaps. Distinctive at any rate.

So she finds it sweetly charming, even endearing, when he deliberately makes a noise to alert her and her friends to the fact that he’s there, scuffing his feet against the floor, loudly closing a door, clearing his throat, as if a vampire would ever need to do that. It’s not as if they really need to breathe, except it helps with talking.

The loud explosion of sound makes her spin around in disbelief, staring at her boyfriend. “Did you just… sneeze?” It’s absurdly amusing.

“Hey, it’s dusty in here!”

Buffy laughs; so much for stealthy vampire mode!

It just makes her love him even more.
